My pulse quickens, and I grip the door for support. “What…?”

“I know it hasn’t been that long since we got back together, but you never left my heart.” Rian opens the box to display a thick gold band. “I asked you to move in as my boyfriend, but now I’m asking for you to live with me as my husband. Will you marry me?”

“When?” I blurt out.

“Um…” Rian blinks quickly at my answer. “Well, I hadn’t thought that far yet…”

I fall to my knees in front of him and throw my arms around him. “I mean, yes. Yes, I’ll marry you! I want to be with you for the rest of my life. I always have. Since the day we first met in high school, you’ve been the only one for me.”

Rian hugs me back so tightly that I can’t breathe. “I’m pretty sure we can apply for a license today, and get married in two weeks.”

I pull back to stare at him. “That soon?”

“You asked when, and if I could, it would be today.” He takes my hand and slips the gold band onto my ring finger. “The sooner we’re married, the faster I can knock you up.”

“What? No!” I scramble away from him. “At least let’s enjoy the honeymoon!”

“That’s what honeymoons are meant for!” He tackles me onto the bed and bites playfully at my nape guard. “Didn’t I tell you I wanted a ton of kids?”

Laughing, I hook my ankles around his waist. “Two weeks, huh?”

“We’ve waited eight years to be together.” He leans down to brush his lips over mine. “Don’t you think that’s long enough?”

“More than enough.” I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him down. “I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life to be yours.”

Our love story took a few bad turns, and there were bumps in the road along the way, but the wait just made this moment all the sweeter.

At the perfect time in our lives, when we could commit ourselves fully, we had found our love at last.

The End.
