“First off,” Ripper said, looking at Griz, “I wanted to say, your old man and I had our differences, but that all means shit. He’s my brother, and my president, and nothing like this should’ve happened to him. I’m with you, Griz, all the way.”

“I appreciate that, Ripper,” Griz said.

“What’s your dad’s condition, Griz?” Ripper asked. “I know everyone here is dying to know anything you can tell us.”

“The doctors had to put him into a coma,” Griz said. “The bullet that passed through him nicked one of his intestines, but they fixed that. The real issue is the one that lodged in his spine.”

“They can’t take it out,” Wyatt added. “Too risky.”

“What does that mean?” Devil asked. “Like, they put him into a coma on purpose? For how long?”

“We don’t know,” Griz said. “I don’t think the doctors know.”

“So, if he wakes up…” Ripper said.

“When he wakes up, Ripper,” Griz said.

“Right. Of course, man, of course,” Ripper said. “When he wakes up… are we talking paralyzed?”

“Could be,” Griz said. “We won’t know until it happens.”

“Motherfuckers. Motherfuckers. I’d rather be dead than that,” Ripper said.

“What we need to do is stay positive and hope for the best,” Wyatt said. “Boomer is tough as nails. He’s going to be all right. I have to believe that.”

“What we need to do, is go to fucking war against the bastards who did this to him,” Ripper said.

“And that,” Griz said. “And that.”

“I think I can help out with that,” Ripper said. “I mean, in a specific way.”

“What do you mean?” Griz said.

“Turns out, I have a way that we can strike back, big time.”

“How?”

“I’ve been cultivating some informants of my own, in case something like this happened,” Ripper said.

Wyatt traded a look with Griz and said, “What do you mean, informants?”

“Death’s Head has its enemies, and not just us,” Ripper said. “There’s plenty of people that they pissed off. Some of them are willing to exchange information for the right price. Some of them are eager to talk, even without money.”

“Why would they do that?” Wyatt said.

“They don’t have either the muscle or the balls to do it themselves,” Ripper said. “So fine. They want us to do the dirty work, as long as it’s a mutual enemy, I say fuck it. I’ll take their intel and make it work.”

Griz wasn’t sure how Ripper could have gotten information like that, but as pissed off as he was, he’d take it. As long as it let him get revenge. Wyatt, on the other hand, seemed more skeptical.

“And you just happen to have this information?” Wyatt said.

“Like I said, I’ve been cultivating it just in case of this very thing,” Ripper said. “Look, I’ve been saying that we need to go after these guys for a while now. I knew something like this was bound to happen. Death’s Head are a bunch of fucking animals. Nothing but rabid dogs.”

“No argument here,” Wyatt said.

“And there’s only one way to deal with a rabid dog.”

“You put it down,” Griz said.
