“That’s not fair, dude,” Devil said. “All of my plans work out great.”
After Pony made a face like he was about to burst into flames, Devil added quickly, “Okay. Most of my plans work out great.”
Pony still looked like a nuclear reactor about to blow.
“Many of my plans work out great?” Devil tried out.
“Just… let’s hear it,” Pony said, trying his best not to groan out loud. “God help me.”
Nikki couldn’t contain her excitement any longer and blurted out, “Benny made this thing.”
“This awesome thing,” Devil added.
“This awesome thing,” Nikki said. “And we get it next to Harris for three minutes and then when he goes home it makes his laptop, um, it does a thing to the laptop and then he doesn’t even know it and we see everything and we got him.”
Pony said, “Come again?”
“I can’t explain it right, I’m too excited,” Nikki said. “Tell them, Devil.”
“All right,” Devil said. “We’re going to have to get close to this Harris guy. Like, face to face close.”
“That’s not going to work, Devil,” Piper said. “He’ll shoot me on sight, or arrest me, and the same for Pony.”
“This is why you need the Falcon and the Condor,” Devil said, starting to grin.
Nikki raised her hands in the air and added, “Woo woo!”
Piper raised her eyebrows. “The what?”
“It’s their… code names,” Pony said, rubbing at his head like he was getting a headache. “Like secret agents.”
“Secret agents?”
“Hear me out, Piper,” Devil said. “See? I even got your name right. You are going to love this.”
“Okay,” Piper said, sounding completely unconvinced.
“Okay, so here’s how Benny explained it to me,” Devil said. “To get past the safeguards on Harris’s phone and laptop, we need to take this phone Benny made and keep it within six inches of Harris’s phone for at least…”
He stopped and looked at Nikki, who supplied the answer.
“Three minutes.”
“Right. Three minutes. Then that loads a virus on Harris’s phone.”
“How?” Pony asked.
“It… I don’t know, man! Benny shit, that’s how! Something to do with source codes and pinging and something something it’ll work. All right?”
“Fine, fine,” Pony said.
“Good. Then, once Harris goes home and turns on his laptop, because they’re close together, his phone will automatically upload the virus onto his laptop.”
“And we got him!” Nikki said, punching a fist into an open palm.
“That’s right,” Devil said. “There’s got to be something on his phone or laptop that we can use, and you can bet Benny will find it.”
