I’m grinning like an idiot. It feels like my heart is going to burst through my chest, I’m so, so happy.
She grabs my face in her hands and kisses me.
Just then I hear the muffled sound of cheers. We break apart and turn to see everyone in the house cheering for us. I spot Maya and Theo grinning at us. I mouth “thank you” to them for letting me propose to Tori at their reception.
Just then Austin runs into the living room and announces it’s almost midnight. Everyone starts to count down.
I turn back to Tori and slip the ring on her finger. I hold her hand in mine and savor this moment. My best friend turned fake girlfriend turned real girlfriend turned fiancée.
I kiss her as everyone cheers and rings in the New Year around us.
When we break apart, Tori holds my face in her hands. “We’re taking this fake relationship thing to a whole new level, aren’t we,” she teases.
I laugh. “We really are.”
