Anticipation and nerves spark inside of me. I really, really want to kiss Tori. But only if she wants to kiss me too.

I turn to look at her and take in the expression on her face. She’s blushing, clearly embarrassed from being the center of attention in this entire arena. But she’s also smiling. And I recognize that teasing, eager smile. She’s into this.

She quirks her eyebrow at me. “Yeah?”

I grin back. “Yeah.”

Gently, I cup her cheek in my hand, pull her face to mine, and press a kiss to her lips. I inhale and breathe in her sweet vanilla perfume. I let out a satisfied hum noise. The entire arena cheers us on.

I know better than to get wild with this kiss. We’re in public after all. But I want to make this good too.

I run my tongue along the seam of her lips, parting them open the slightest bit. I touch my tongue against hers for a quick second before I pull back.

Holy shit. Just that quick taste of Tori’s candy tongue drives me wild. She moves her lips against mine. Even through the noise of the crowd around us, I can hear her let out a soft moan.

She’s into this too.

She leans back after a couple of seconds, breaking our kiss. She lets out a nervous giggle and covers her mouth.

Some guy behind me claps my shoulder.

“Damn, son. You didn’t want that to end, did you?” He cackles. I let out an embarrassed laugh.

I glance up and see we’re still on the screen.

“Holy moly, folks, I think those two won tonight’s kiss cam. Hubba hubba, am I right?” the announcer says.

More cheers and whistles follow. I glance off to the side and see Theo flashing me a thumbs-up from the bench.

I let out another flustered laugh as the crowd’s interest shifts from us to the ice as the teams get ready for the puck drop.

I catch eyes with Tori. Her gold-brown stare is shy, but I catch a flash of something else too. Something fiery and teasing.

I’ve had two kisses with Tori so far, but I’m aching for more.

She leans closer to me. “We really sold that kiss,” she says in a low voice.

I grin. “We did.”

“Pretty good for a couple that’s totally faking it,” she says before Maya pulls her into a conversation.

Tori’s words land like a splash of cold water. We’re not a real couple and everything that happens between us is fake, no matter how I feel.

Disappointment settles like a rock in my gut. This fake relationship was my idea in the first place. How could I let myself get so carried away?

Because you really, really like Tori. You always have. And now that you can kiss her and hold her and pretend to be in a relationship with her, you’re getting a little too caught up in the whole setup.

I tug a hand through my hair. Tori knows better than to feel that way, judging by how cool she was about our kiss cam kiss. I need to follow her lead.

At the end of the second period, I check my phone and see messages from Becca and Gage in the group text.

Becca: Just wanted to remind the ladies that tomorrow is dress shopping day! Meet at 10 a.m. at the bridal boutique. Can’t wait to see you there!

Gage: Tux shopping for the guys is tomorrow too. Same time. We’ll be at the suit shop next door. Don’t be late.

Gage: I’m talking to you, Tyler. You’d better not oversleep.

Maya and Tori chuckle as they read the messages on their phones and reply.
