“Of course.” I follow her inside, shut the door behind me, and lock it.

She heads for the kitchen and grabs two glasses of water. She hands me one and guzzles down the other. When she finishes, her stomach growls. She pats her tummy and lets out a shy laugh.

“Hungry?” I ask.

She nods. “I guess I didn’t realize it until just now.”

I step over to her refrigerator, open the door, and survey what’s inside.

“Good news: you’ve got everything I need to make a BLT,” I say.

She winces slightly. “Is that okay? I know it’s late.”

“The only plans I have are to feed you.”

A pink flush colors her cheeks when she smiles. “Thank you,” she says softly.

I get to work on the sandwich.

“I should explain about Robbie.”

I tense at just the mention of that prick’s name.

I look up from the bacon sizzling in the pan at the stove and try not to look as worked up as I feel. “You don’t have to explain anything to me, Tori.”

She sits down on the counter and lets out a breath. “I do though. It would explain why I ghosted you this past week, why I acted the way that I did…”

When she trails off, I fight to urge to tell her it’s okay, that she doesn’t have to explain anything to me. Because even though that’s all true, I can tell she wants to talk. Whatever this is, it’s important and she seems to want to get it off her chest.

I turn off the stove, remove the cooked bacon, and set it on a paper towel-lined plate to soak up the grease.

I turn to her. “I’m all ears. But let’s get you fed first.”

The corner of her mouth quirks up. “Okay.”

A minute later, she sits down at the small two-person table at the end of the kitchen. I set a massive BLT in front of Tori. I sit down in the chair next to her and set down my plate.

She licks her lips before looking at me. “This looks amazing. Thank you.”

She inhales half the sandwich by the time I’ve taken two bites of mine.

I chuckle softly to myself as I chew. She stops to wipe her mouth and drink some water.

“So, um, Robbie. You already know we had kind of a messy breakup.”

I stop chewing and look at Tori. “He was a piece of shit for what he did to you.”

“He was, but…there was a reason why he did what he did.”

I frown. “What do mean? Tori, there’s no excuse for cheating. Ever.”

She closes her eyes and nods. “I know. And I agree.” She pauses and picks at the remaining half of her sandwich. “We had a pretty rough relationship,” she finally says. “We weren’t compatible. In the bedroom specifically.”

I stop chewing. What does that mean?

She hesitates. Her gaze drops back to her plate. “I have a hard time, um…climaxing. With a partner.”

Tori’s beautiful face is beet red as she speaks.
