Because I can’t picture my life without her.

I let out a breath and almost say those three words.

But then I glimpse myself in the nearby bathroom mirror. My hair is a mess. There are dark circles under my eyes from staying up late and drinking. My pants and boxer briefs are at my ankles, and my stomach and fist are covered in my own jizz.

Is this really the moment I want to tell my girlfriend that I’m in love with her?

I almost laugh at how fucking awkward that would be. I shake my head at myself. God, I’m a horny idiot sometimes.

I decide right then and there that this isn’t the moment I want to tell Tori I love her. I’ll wait until we’re actually in the same room, when I can look into her eyes, when I can hold her and kiss her.

“That was fucking amazing,” I say, my voice shaky. “Do you know how amazing you are?”

She flashes a flustered smile. “Yeah…just…wow,” she says, her sweet tone bewildered. She smooths a hand over her mussed auburn hair.

“Took the words right out of my mouth.”

She giggles. “I guess I can cross mutual masturbation off my sex list,” she says. “I didn’t think it could be so hot. And we weren’t even in the same room.”

I grin at her. “Way to go, us. We showed that sex list who’s boss”

She laughs.

“Are we still on for dinner Wednesday night?” I ask.

She grins and nods.

“Can’t wait,” I say through a smile. “Good night.”

“Good night.”

The urge to say, “I love you” hits me once more, but I hold back. Wait just a few more days when I can do it right.

We hang up. I wash up and stumble into the spare bed in the guest room. I fall asleep, pumped to tell Tori just how much I love her.

Chapter 29

Tori

Iswipe a rosy blush on the apples of Becca’s cheeks. When I finish, I hand her a mirror.

“Okay, how does that look?” I ask.

She looks at her reflection for a few seconds before the biggest smile appears on her face. Her blue eyes shine with joy.

“Tori! I love it!”

She sets the mirror on her coffee table and hugs me.

I squeeze her back. “Really? Because I swear, you won’t hurt my feelings if you don’t like it, Bec. I want you to feel beautiful on your wedding day and feel good with the makeup you’re wearing.”

Becca breaks our hug, holds my shoulders, and looks me in the eye. “I love love love the way you did my makeup, Tori. Seriously. It looks perfect.”

I beam at my best friend, taking in how stunning she is in the understated glowy makeup look I helped her with. I hug her again.

“Thank you for agreeing to do my makeup on my wedding day,” she says. “And thank you for all the practice makeup sessions the past few weeks.”

When we break apart, we look at all the makeup scattered all over her coffee table. We both laugh.
