“Well, you’ve earned it.”

Asher stared out at him in disbelief.

Things had come a long fucking way since all of this had started.

And after tomorrow, God willing, the shackles that had been slapped to our wrists since birth would be broken, burned to fucking ash.

No more Infidels.

Just us.

As we’d always wanted it.

Infidels Fall.

The Monroe Estate was certainly something.

The behemoth was nestled at the edge of the City of Torvin and boasted twelve acres of land. It was a Victorian style home with actual turrets too that stood out in a sleek black against the beige brick of the rest of the exterior. Well, along with the crimson double entrance doors with giant brass lion’s head knockers. They matched with the white lion statues positioned either side of the driveway leading up to the courtyard.

The actual guard posts positioned either side of the mammoth wrought iron entrance gates were a jarring contrast, being modern and a sleek gray and black.

What was more jarring—at least to the Infidels—was the fact that both guards in either post were sprawled out dead in their posts, and the big gates were wide open, even one of them ripped off its hinges.

The Heretics had arrived just before us.

And they’d clearly gone in hot.

As Killian, Jonah, and I carefully made our way through the cover of the trees, we took in the dropped bodies of several Infidels throughout the courtyard.

“You look fucking sexy in that gear,” Killian said, checking me out in my black tactical gear. We were all clad in heavy-duty Kevlar—vests and all—that my dad had procured for each of us as an extra precaution.

“Yeah? All covered up?” I asked, thinking he was just being sweet.

“You look like a hot warrior princess type.”

Jonah chuckled.

I smiled at Killian, but I didn’t get much further than that, when a transmission came from my earpiece—all of ours, because we were all linked.

“Did you forget the line is open, smooth talker? I heard that,” my dad’s voice sounded.

“Keep your dick in your pants, kid,” Aaron’s voice came next.

“Focus up,” Asher’s came down the line.

“It was sweet,” I heard Olivia say.

“Aww, Pretty,” Jonah said, laughing.

“The guys are just jealous of my natural charm.”

“I liked it,” I told him, rubbing his arm.

Another transmission came down the line, Asher’s voice sounding as he reported, “Surveillance is offline. Can’t ascertain locations of chief targets inside. Change of plans. Shift to search, sweep, and clear.”
