“I don’t know,” a sigh leaves her lips as she rolls to her back, “I guess we just drifted when I left for college.” I push onto my side and hold my head up with my hand, hovering over her.

“I’m not taking that bullshit, tell me the truth.”

She rolls her gaze away from me and lets out a sigh. “He always thought more of you guys than he did for me. I guess I was jealous.” There’s a tone in her voice, a determination that leaves no room for explanation or excuses.

“Is that what you think?” I ask, waiting patiently for an answer but nothing comes so I go on. “Man, we butted heads so many times over you, and I tried to do what he said but I had this constant pull to you,” I shrug, not caring that I went against every one of his rules. Put the club rules aside and there was no reason why we shouldn’t be together. When I was with her everything in my life made sense.

“What do you mean you tried to do what he said?” She sits up and stares directly into my eyes. “He told me you slept with one of the girls, that that’s what a biker does and you were no good for me. He said you were on a path of self-destruction and it would be the life we’d have if I let it happen.” She slows her breathing as she looks away, obviously trying to control her temper, a look of anger mixed with sadness clouding the beauty of her eyes.

“Do you really think I’d cheat on you? You, Luna, you baby are the love of my life. Even back then I knew you were the only girl that I would ever want. He fucking knew that.”My fingers curl into my palm, making a fist. How could he say that to her.

“Oh.” She replies as she turns her eyes downcast. “What did you mean when you said you were putting me before the club like you should have done before.”

“It doesn’t matter now,” my head shakes, refusing to tell her. “I have you back now, and no one is going to take you away from me.”

“It does matter. Because I would never have gone away to college.”She answers, her tone more determined as she lifts her gaze to mine.

“You had to do that.” I tell her, “You needed to find out what life was like outside of a compound and living by so many fucking rules.”

“Why? You didn’t.” She fires back instantly.

I capture her chin between my fingers and look into her eyes. “I chose this life Luna, this was my better life, remember. I chose to be a part of something, only when you left, I fell apart. He made me walk away. But I couldn’t focus, I couldn’t handle you not being around. I missed you so fucking much. You leveled me, grounded me and Pres knew that, so, he sent me out on more runs. He made me feel important. With you not around, he knew I’d concentrate more on the club, and that’s all I did. I had nothing else. My mom was dead, you were gone, I had no meaning. If it hadn’t been for Reaper, I might have taken the same path as my mother and ended my shitty life.” My chest constricts when I think back. When I think how close I came at times, I thank fucking everything holy that I never did. Luna cups my cheek. Her soft hand caresses my face and brings me back to now. “Every time the thought crossed my mind, I saw your face. It reminded me that one day I’d see you again. I had to take the gamble, and with the roll of that dice I lived to see another day. Well, that is until my birthday came around again. Man, I was messed up.” She pushes up further, water filling her eyes as I recount the past and presses her lips to mine. A slow, torturous kiss as a silent pledge affirms us.

“I love you.” I release her lips enough that I can say this clearly, “I can’t be without you again.”

She smiles and tilts her head, “Never. I’ll never let anyone break us apart again. I promise. I”ve never loved anyone else, how could I? You stole that part of me.”

“You’re mine, Luna.” My voice is firm, “I claimed you as mine when I was sixteen, and I won’t let anyone take you away from me, not again.”

“Kiss me.” Luna demands. Smiling wide, I take her face in my hands and pull her down to my lips giving her exactly what she wants. She has me.

After two rounds of sex, and a deep discussion, we finally decide to get out of bed and get cleaned up. I lie back on my bed, slipping my hands behind my head as I enjoy the view in front of me as her lightly tanned legs disappear under her jeans, next she pulls a tank top over her head dragging it down her torso, covering herself just as she turns to me. I pull myself up and turn to sit on the edge of the bed, taking her by the hips and position her between my thighs. “Do you have to go?”

“Yeah. Dad will shit a brick if he catches me here like this.”

“Well, he’ll have to find out sooner or later.” I turn my chin up and stare into her eyes,

“I know, but not this way.” Her hands run over my now short hair; my eyes closing as her nails scrape soothingly along my scalp. “As much as I want to barge in there and demand he tell me what he did, he’ll just dismiss me and treat me like a child.” I wouldn’t expect her to put herself in the firing line for me. “I’ll tell him, maybe after we have the discussion of why he did what he did.”

“We can do that together.”I reply.

“No. Let me handle this,” her fingers brush my face, “please?”

“Hmm, maybe.” She bends over me, capturing my lips in a searing kiss and I tighten my arms around her, tugging her closer. I groan when she breaks our connection. “Who’s watching the bar?” I ask licking her sweet taste from my lips.

“No one. I left it locked up. I wanted to put things straight with you instead.” With a gentle tug, I pull her down onto the bed and roll her over so I’m hovering over her.

“I love you, Luna Scott.” Her eyes smile. “And one day I’m gonna marry you, permission from Pres or not. I’m done being told what I can and can’t do, especially where you’re concerned.”

A soft shuddering sigh leaves her lips. “I feel like we have a lot of obstacles to get over before that.” She whispers, her sad eyes glance my way before dipping her head.

“Hey,” I lift her chin slightly and make her look into my eyes. “I don’t fucking care how many hurdles get put in our way, I promise you right now, if we can't find a way over them, then we’ll find a way around them.” She nods and just as I’m about to kiss her again, loud voices have me bolting upright. We stay completely still, putting my finger to my lips signaling to Luna to not say anything just as there’s a loud banging on my door.

“Who is it?” I shout back as my eyes train on Luna.

It’s silent on the other side. I’m about to call out again when the voice sounds through the door. “It’s me.”
