“Couple of months.” He states as he puts some beer in the fridge.

“You know if these guys know you’re twenty-one, they’ll have a massive party.”

He pauses with a bottle in his hand. “Oh? So how long have you been coming here? I mean how do you know this place so well?”

“Oh, that’s a whole other story.”My hand waves in front of me, dismissing the need for questions about how I know.

“Well, it seems I have time to listen.” He holds his arms out at his sides with the bottle still in his hand.

“I’m not sure I should tell you, though. I mean, you thought I was a club slut,” I look down at my appearance. Jeans, a tank top and a pair of Converse, not even the slightest bit of makeup on my face. “Oh, just an FYI, those bitches aren’t to be trusted.”

His eyes are like saucers, “I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you.”, but I laugh. “Well, it seems you know a lot about this place, so are you going to tell me?”Brendan veers back to his original question.

“Hm, maybe. But maybe I’ll let you suffer for a bit longer while I have a beer.” His eyes roll, but he turns to grab me a beer anyway.

The rumble of bikes outside in the compound makes a small smile reach my lips, but I disguise it. I don’t want to name drop or tell him I’m Pres’ daughter or that I belong to Chains, because, quite honestly, whether I’m with him or not, I’m still my own person and it’ll stay that way. He slides a bottle across the bar with a smirk. I lift it to my lips to take a gulp just as I hear the guys come into the clubhouse, all talking loudly between themselves. I watch Brendan straighten his back, almost like he’s standing to attention. As I turn my head to admire my boyfriend’s very delectable gait, I see Donna step towards him to say hello, looking at him with a wistful look on her face. But, if there's one thing I’m not, that’s jealous of other women. I’m confident enough in our relationship to know he wouldn’t sleep with a club slut now we’re back together.

“Fuck off.” His voice is loud, and very clear to everyone as he strides through the room with purpose until he reaches me. I turn my head back with a smirk pinned to my lips as he wraps his arms around my waist from behind. He buries his nose in my neck and kisses the sensitive skin beneath my ear and down the slope of my neck, causing a shiver to run down my side. With a squeeze, he releases his hold a little and reaches for my bottle. I turn in his arms, lifting my brow as he gulps down some of my beer. He pulls the bottle away as he swallows and licks his lips. “Hey beautiful,” A gorgeous smile appears on his lips as he gazes at me.

“Hey yourself.” I smile back and he kisses me hard on the lips.

“I see you’ve met the new prospect.”

“Hm, mmm.” I hum.

“You been chatting up my woman?” Levi says to Brendan without not so much as a slight grin on his lips.

“No. I…I mean we’ve been talking but, but I swear she never said who she was, apart from her name.” Just as Brendan is stuttering over his words, my father rocks up.

“Are you causing trouble, princess?” he presses a kiss to my cheek and I smile sweetly.

“Never dad.”

“Dad?!” Brendan exclaims. “You’re his, I mean, Pres’ daughter?”

“I am.” I cringe. “I’m sorry Brendan. I hate name dropping and people assuming I’m important. Don’t get yourself in a tiswas, it’s fine.”

“But I almost accused you of being one of those g…” I shake my head frantically to stop him from finishing that sentence. With his eyes wide he spins around toward the cooler, busying himself in getting the guys beers while I pull Levi to the end of the bar with me.

“Anything?” I ask about Mac.

I know this next conversation is going to be a bit more difficult, but I’m doing it anyway.

“No sweetheart. I don’t know where he’s holed himself up, but he’ll slip up.”

“Okay. Well, I’m going back to the bar then.”

“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Lu.”Levi replies, but he doesn’t look angry at my demand, he looks worried.

I should care but really, I don’t. I need this. “I understand that, but I need normalcy. So why don’t you send one of the guys with me? You did it before, what’s different now?”

“What’s different is he is out there probably watching every move. He’s calculated, and after the Savage Souls coming into the bar like they did, it’s not fucking safe and then with shooting up the clubhouse and killing the kid, it’s a whole different ballgame.” He pauses for a second. “It’s too dangerous.” He tells me slowly, enunciating every word as I push my shoulders back.

“Well, I need to work, Levi, I’m fucking bored. I’ve had enough of hiding and I’m not doing it anymore. I’m not going to let him, and the rest of those assholes stop me from living my life and earning my own money. I have a business to run.” I take his hands from me and step back.

“So then work here. Work in the clubhouse.”

“What and pander to all of you, cleaning shit up after you guys… no thanks.”
