“You shouldn’t let him do this to you. I doubt he’ll stop after one date.”

“Paolo is a good guy. I’m just going to give him closure,” I told her. Zi looked at me for a few minutes before she sighed.

“Keep your phone on you, and I want a text every twenty minutes. After what happened with the other asshole and what happened to Cory, I don’t want you alone.”

I agreed, and though I was tempted to tell her I would be safe with Paolo, I knew she would worry anyway. It was the mother in her.

“How did your date go?” I finally asked. She gave me a shy smile, but I could see the fear in her eyes as well.

“It went better than I thought it would, and I’m really scared of what will happen if this doesn’t end well. I don’t know if I would be able to survive if he breaks my heart.”

“Have you considered that he may be your mate?” I asked.

“Yes, but that is just as scary,” she said. “Mates can go so right or so wrong, and with my luck...” she trailed off.

“Stop. Stop overthinking it. The next full moon is less than two weeks from now. Just enjoy being wooed for a little bit, then worry about heartbreak when you figure out if you’re mates or not. I’m here for you as both babysitter and therapist,” I joked.

“I’ll take you up on that.” She smiled guiltily. “Because I have another date on Tuesday.”

“I got you,” I told her. “But you’re going to have to make me breakfast because I’m hungry.”

“Why don’t we walk to the pack house and have breakfast there?” she asked, and I smirked. This woman wanted to see James again already.

“I’ll go get dressed; you wake up, Molly.”

We walked to the pack house, and I could see Zi’s disappointment that James was nowhere to be seen.

‘You guys not having breakfast?’ I reached out to James.

‘We’re eating right now?’ James answered with a question.

‘Where? I don’t see you.’

‘We’re upstairs. We always eat breakfast upstairs with Cory.’

‘Oh,’ I answered.

‘Are you downstairs?’ he asked.

‘Yeah, but it’s alright. We were hungry.’

‘Zi and Molly are with you?’ His interest in the conversation seemed to grow, and I almost rolled my eyes.

‘Yep.’

‘Come on up! I’ll tell everyone.’

‘We’ll grab a plate and head up then,’ I said and cut the mind-link to tell Zi.

“The boys are, wait…one sec,” I told Zi when I felt another mind-link.

‘Morning, Evie. Don’t grab food. I’ll make some more,’ Cory reached out.

“The boys are cooking us breakfast. They’re waiting for us upstairs,” I told Zi.

“Why am I not surprised? They cook us breakfast half the week,” she chuckled, and I guided her to the elevator.

Cory was already on the stove while James was doing some sort of prep.
