She scoffs. “Would I do such a thing?” Her hips move from side to side, making my dick hard in the process, and she smiles over her shoulder. “What do you want, Dawson? Haven’t you done enough?”

Not nearly. I want to bend her over the nearest pool table and show her exactly how she’s looked in my mind all these years, but I have a feeling the owner wouldn’t appreciate that. “You have no idea the things I want to do to you right now, but I can always show you. Would you like that?”

I smirk at the shudder the moves through her body at my words, my movements not faltering as the song continues around us. If I didn’t have my lips pressed right against her ear, she never would’ve heard the words. Her hair falls down her back as she leans her head toward me and I flick the strands to the other side, letting my tongue make a trail down her throat. “Still perfect,” I whisper against her skin.

“Is that so?” She says breathlessly. “Maybe you need to show me how perfect I really am, Dawson.”

“Is that what you really want?”

There’s a storm brewing in her eyes as she contemplates the question I’m asking and she nods, giving in to the pull that’s always been there between us and I stop all movement before pulling her toward the exit. She stumbles along the way, nearlyface planting onto the hardwood floor, but I manage to break her fall with a chuckle.

“Clumsy little thing, huh?”

It would be wrong of me to take her to my home and put my hands on her when she’s like this, but the idea of having her body against mine has me pushing that thought away. Maybe this is what she needs to get that feeling back, the one that shows she doesn’t hate me anymore. She follows me along the sidewalk with her hand clutched tightly around mine as I lead her to my truck which is parked a few stores over from the bar, and I bring her to a stop next to it.

“Savanna, I need to be honest with you about something,” I say softly, a hand coming to her cheek with a smile. “I’ve never stopped loving you and hurting you was the last thing I ever wanted to do.”

She blinks back tears and whispers to me. “This isn’t funny, Dawson.”

“I’m not joking, Sav. There are things that happened that you don’t know about. Things I couldn’t tell you, even though I wanted to.”

Savanna shakes her head in frustration and backs away from me, but the hold I have on her hand doesn’t let her move much further. “I don’t care, Dawson.”

The words hurt, but there’s an emotion in her gaze that’s telling me she’s lying. I sigh. “But I do. I was never supposed to hurt you and I did. It was the biggest mistake of my life, but please let me explain why before we go any further with things right now.”

“Keep talking,” she mumbles.

I’m not sure how time passed by so quickly, but I’m finally pulling into my driveway an hour later with Savanna sitting silently in the passenger seat. I told her everything and she hasn’t said much since. I look over at her, studying the side of her face as she stares straight ahead and I sigh in defeat. “Are you going to say anything, Sav?”

She shakes her head and smiles at me. “I believe we had a deal and I think it involved less talking and more nakedness.”

Could I do this? It’s only one night, but at least I’d be able to have her close to me just as I’ve wished for years. With the silence taking over once again, I hop out of the truck and rush around to her side to help her out, then lead her up my front porch. I’m nervous about bringing her here because this was supposed to be the place where she’d cook me breakfast in the morning before I headed to work, and where we’d ask about each other’s days during dinner. All I could ever think about was having her legs spread in front of me as I devoured her for dessert, and how sweet it would sound when my name fell off her lips over and over again. That’s not going to happen though. Savanna doesn’t want me long term. She’s made that abundantly clear.

It’s silent as we make our way through the living room with only the sound of our breathing, and I head upstairs. This is what she wants, and I’m not going to deny anything she may want even if it’s induced by alcohol. When we get in front of my bedroom door, I take a deep breath before pushing it open and let her walk ahead of me.

I’m suddenly nervous while she moves around the room, eyeing all the random art hanging on the walls, and I run a hand through my hair. She takes a seat at the edge of the bed and lets her eyes fall onto me with a smile, one of her fingers coming up into the air as she beckons me over to her. “You going to leave me all alone?”

Not a chance in hell. Her hands find my waist when I step in front of her, making her legs spread apart enough for me to stand between them, and I groan at the feel of her finger moving along my skin. “You’ve always been so beautiful, but more so now.”

She sucks in a breath and closes her eyes softly. “You can’t say things like that.”

“Why not, Sav? Can’t a man tell you the truth?” I rub my thumb over her bottom lip which feels just as soft as I remember, and I hold back a groan.

“It’s not the truth,” she says before pulling me closer to her and smiling. “Now, show me what I’ve been missing out on.”

She doesn’t have to ask me twice. I grip her waist and pull her against me, leaving no space between us. Fuck the distance. I’ve spent all these years with too much between us and I’m not having it right now. Her eyes grow dark with lust and need, and I know that I’d get down on both knees if she told me to. I’d do anything she asked of me if it meant she kept looking at me like that.

“Strip,” I rasp out, taking a step away from her to watch the action. She tugs her shorts down and I growl in response. “Slower, Sav. We’ve got all night.”

My dick is rock hard at the sight of her body, slim and toned, and I just know her breasts will fit perfectly in the palms of my hands. I’m itching to feel her legs wrapped around me, but I manage to stay in place as she slips her shoes off.

When I move to her, she smirks at me and shakes her head. “Uh uh, you have to do what I have to do.” She watches my slow movements as I pull the t-shirt over my head, her eyes landing on the ink I’ve gotten since we were together. “That’s new.”

I flex my arm, looking down at it with a smile. “Got them a few years ago. Do you like them?”

Her eyes don’t move from the art along my skin as she nods her head, transfixed by the designs and words. I can imagine it now, her tongue tracing every inch of the tattoos as she climbs up my body and my arms tingle at the thought. Even when she’s not doing anything, Savanna Gentry still manages to invoke feelings that no other woman would ever be able to do.

Once I have my boxer briefs at my feet, we stand there silently, our eyes trailing each other's bodies and committing them to memory. She may be more willing than she has been since getting to town, but I’m not stupid enough to think this is it. I take a few steps toward her, more than ready to feel her beneath me once again, and nudge her onto the mattress.
