Kelsea laughs, hopping off the couch. “That’s my cue,” she says as she slips her shoes on. “Mom is expecting me bright and early in the morning to help her organize the attic space, aka getting rid of all the things I left in boxes when I moved out.” Rosie stands up and pulls Kelsea in a tight hug.

“Bye, Kels. Thank you so much for hanging out today.” Rosie walks her to the door. Kelsea turns and waves, “See ya tomorrow, Abs.” I wave back, “Can’t wait! Have fun with your mom in the morning.”

She smirks, “Sure.”

After Kelsea walks out, Rosie closes the door and locks it.

Whipping around, she beams, “I’m thinking it’s a Chunky Monkey kind of night! What about you?” Her enthusiasm has me laughing. Not to mention, I never turn down ice cream, especially of the Chunky Monkey variety.

ABBEY

As Rosie, Kelsea, and I walk through the doors of Motiv, the music echoes through the room, making it hard to even hear yourself think. The open room is full of partygoers on the prowl for a good time.

Our eyes roam over the crowd in hopes of catching a glimpse of the guys. Leaning close to Rosie’s ear so she can hear me, I speak loudly, “Do you see them?”

She shakes her head without taking her eyes off the room. “Nope, it’s so crowded,” she yells.

“There they are,” Kelsea shouts, pointing in the direction of the bar on the far side of the room. My gaze follows her hand, and almost instantly, I spot them. They’re all standing in a small circle, tilting their heads back as they take shots from small glasses.

“Well, it looks like they’ve gotten started without us,” Rosie laughs.

She takes the lead as we weave our way through the crowd to get to the guys. I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about being close to Parker again.

When we finally approach them, Kelsea shouts, “Hey losers! Couldn’t wait for the rest of us before starting the party?” The guys whip around, and Drew’s face is instantly covered with a grin. He rushes to Rosie and picks her up into his arms. “Baby!” he exclaims. She laughs, wrapping her arms around his shoulders.

“The party started as soon as we arrived. You guys just missed our grand entrance,” Tyler responds to Kelsea’s greeting while ignoring the sickening display of PDA. Kelsea rolls her eyes at her brother while I laugh. There really is something about Tyler and his burly bear ways; the inside is obviously soft when you look closely into his eyes. Basically, he is a stuffed teddy bear rather than a real-life terrifying one.

Jasper walks up to me, sticking out his fist for a bump, “Hey there, Abbey!” I make a fist and gladly bump it in return. “Hey, Jasper!” Smiling, I give into the inevitable and allow my gaze to focus on the one brother I’ve yet to lay eyes on tonight. When I look his way, his eyes are already focused on me and those butterflies residing in my belly just got worse. “Abs,” he acknowledges. “Parker,” I reply.

Suddenly, a small, slender arm slings over my shoulder, “I think we need shots! The boys took shots, so it’s our turn!” Rosie shouts, grinning mischievously. Kelsea throws her fisted hand in the air, screaming, “Hell yeah!”

My eyes never leave Parker, and now he is smirking in that devastatingly handsome way he does. Shrugging, I look up at Rosie, “We do shots!”

Tyler already had that idea without any of us noticing he was gone because as soon as the words leave my mouth, he is there handing each of us a shot. I sniff it, pulling my head back quickly, scrunching up my nose.

Kelsea gags, “What the hell is this crap? It smells like hell!”

Tyler is standing next to her, grinning from ear to ear. “Fireball,” he states matter-of-factly.

“No!” Rosie and I say in unison. Parker, Drew, and Jasper double over laughing.

“Oh, yes,” Tyler grins. Kelsea shoots him the finger then moves to stand before Rosie and me.

“Okay, ladies. We’ve got this!” She is eyeing us so seriously; I’ve almost forgotten what we’re even talking about.

Shaking her head, Rosie says, “I don’t …” but Kelsea puts a finger up to Rosie’s lips, stopping her.

“Tyler just laid down a dare. We can never back down from a Tyler dare. Horrible things will happen to us if we do.”

Rosie looks over at Drew in desperation. “Sorry, babe. It’s true.”

My eyes swing to Tyler, and I protest, “But Fireball is basically shit in a bottle. I may as well immediately sign up for an organ transplant.”

Parker finally speaks up, “Oh come on, Abbey. That is a bit dramatic, don’tcha think?”

I hear the laughter hanging behind his words. “Ugh, fine!” I give in. “Kelsea is right, Rosie! We’ve got this!”
