“I’ve never met anyone who makes me feel so at ease, who gets my wit, who can banter back with the same rapid fire as you do.”

I’m nodding now because he’s saying all the things that I love about us being together.

“And then, there’s the fact that I’ve fallen in love with you,” he says matter-of-factly.

My eyes are now as wide as saucers, and I realize I’m holding my breath.

“I don’t want to imagine my life without you in it,” he continues. “I know I said I wanted to take things slowly, but I lied. I want to take things at whatever pace comes naturally to us. Which, if our banter is anything to go by, is reasonably fast. But if you can’t forgive me, then I’ll have no choice but to accept that.”

I’ve never seen Finn look so vulnerable, and all I want to do is throw my arms around his neck and kiss him. So, I do. For a change, he’s the one who is taken aback for a second, but he recovers pretty quickly, wrapping his arms around my body and pulling me against him. We stay in that embrace for a long moment, and all those feelings I felt the last time, return with a vengeance. And I love it.

When we finally, and breathlessly part, we’re both panting again. “All right,” I say. “Let’s do it.”

Suddenly, a beaming grin fills his whole face.

“And by the way,” I say. “I’m in love with you too.”
