“You want the full ass? It’s right here, baby. It’s all yours.”

I turned around and bent over to shake my butt.

Reed let out a laugh that was so loud it startled our cats. They ran out of the room and down the hallway, out of sight.

I pivoted and quickly pulled him into my arms, kissing him.

“You’re ridiculous,” Reed replied, his smile making a comeback. “And I should be so mad at you right now.”

“But you’re not,” I smirked.

He shook his head.

“We’ve wasted enough time. I want to spend every fucking day with you,” I announced.

“I think I’m okay with that,” he teased.

“Okay? Just okay?” I whispered and took his lips in a punishing kiss.

“More than.”

“Good. Now that we’ve got that out of the way?—”

“Out of the way?” he said and raised one eyebrow.

“You know what I mean,” I kissed him again. Harder. “Who called you earlier?”

Reed’s smile vanished as quick as it came.

“It was Rissa.”

“Is she okay? How’s your dad?”

Reed nodded. “They’re both fine. It’s my mom’s case. The court date has been moved up. The trial starts next Thursday. I have to head home tomorrow.”

I pulled him in tightly, his body trembling.

“I’ll come with you.”

Reed shook his head. “No. You have auditions next week and meetings with Henn and Aiden about your corporate partnerships. Plus, selling your house. I’ll be fine.”

“I’ll cancel. Nothing is more important than you.”

Reed placed a finger over my lips.

“I appreciate your offer. I’ll be okay.”

My gut was telling me no. That Reed wasn’t prepared for what was about to come next. Reliving the trauma of his mom’s death. Facing the man who carelessly took her life.

“If you need me, you call,” I added. “And I’m on the first plane out.”

Reed nodded.

“I don’t want to think about it tonight,” he admitted and held me tighter. “Make me forget, if only for a while.”

“That I can do.”

Taking him by the hand, I led him to our bedroom.
