For a moment, I worried he was going to stalk over and confront Kendrick. Korry got up and rounded the table.

A fistfight was the last thing any of us needed. Especially since we had reporters sitting with us, and others that were seated throughout the venue.

Instead, Neal stormed out of the room. No one from his table got up and followed him.

Kendrick smiled at us and raised his glass.

“Now it’s a fucking party!”

CHAPTER 34

TATE

Reed had been far too quiet on the ride home.

He’d gotten a phone call near the end of the evening and excused himself from the table. By the time he got back, his face was ashen. I’d asked him what was wrong but the only thing he said was ‘later’.

So, I let it go.

Until we got back home.

Korry said goodnight and headed for his bedroom.

My boyfriend took off for the kitchen, Cary and Grant on his heels.

Reed got out a couple of mugs and began to make tea, and I forced down a sudden urge to laugh. We were the antithesis of our younger selves, ready for bed by midnight. Most parties in LA were just getting started.

After asking him twice if he was okay and getting the same ‘fine’ response, I decided to poke the bear.

“My realtor has received five offers on my house.”

Reed nearly dropped the mug in his hand.

“What are you talking about? Since when are you selling your house?”

“Since I’m moving in here with you.”

Reed slammed the mug on the counter. “Seriously? You weren’t going to ask me? You just announce it like it’s no big deal, hey Reed, I’m moving in.”

With his hands on his hips, and a flush staining his cheeks, he was riled up. Good. Better that than stony-faced silence.

“We’re almost living together as is.”

“Yeah, but come on, Tate. Moving in together is a huge thing. How about making it special?”

“We lived together for two years.”

“As roommates.”

I held out my arms. “I love you and I want to wake up next to you every single day. How much more special can you get? What do you need?”

Reed shook his head.

“You still should have asked me first.”

“Reed, do you wanna shack up together?”

“That’s a half assed attempt,” he snapped.
