My cheeks were flaming red. “I can imagine.”

“The trickiest ones are the clients who want my services to extend to the bedroom.”

It was none of my business but now I was curious.

“And no, I haven’t stepped over that line. That’s a shitehole I never want to fall into.”

“But look at Alex, Aiden, and Jared,” I countered.

“Risking your job for love is one thing, for a casual screw is another.”

“Speaking of jobs, any more news about your next one?”

Korry nodded. “Well, it’s not news but keep this on the down low: the hotshot racecar driver I’m going to be shadowing? It’s Charlie’s brother, Travis.”

“Really? Charlie’s great. I’m sure his brother’s the same.”

“I hope so. But from what Charlie told me, Travis is kind of a lone wolf. He doesn’t like anyone telling him what to do. I can’t imagine he’s gonna take my security advice seriously.”

“I’m sure it’ll be fine. And hey, even if he’s an asshole, you get to be around all those incredible cars, and watch races. That’s exciting.”

“That’s the only reason I said yes,” Korry replied, and stood up. “You okay now?”

I smiled up at him. “Better, thanks. I was all up in my head when I got off the phone. Thanks for the talk.”

“That’s what I’m here for.”

“Not to guard my body?”

“That too.”

CHAPTER 37

TATE

It turned out, Reed’s flight wasn’t on time.

It was delayed. By three fucking hours.

I’d offered to pick him up, but Reed texted and told me to stay home, he had a driver arranged.

Guilt gnawed at my gut. I should’ve gone to the airport. I couldn’t sleep anyway.

While Reed was in New York, I’d spent the week getting my brand deals sorted, auditioning for two movies, and most important of all, getting my stuff moved into his house.

Our home.

Mine was on the market.

With Korry’s help, I’d packed up most of my belongings and moved them over, boxes now littering every room.

And now, at one in the morning, unable to sleep and needing distraction, I finished unpacking my clothes.

Something as simple as hanging my shirts up next to Reed’s in the walk-in closet gave me goosebumps. If I had any remaining doubts, they were silent now as the truth stared back at me.

His. Mine. Ours.

Despite everything we’d been through, time and again, we chose each other.
