“That’s a lot less rude than I expected, love,” I quipped. “In the past, you would’ve just told Henn to get out.”

“That too,” he added with a smirk.

“I’m outta here, my girlfriend is waiting for me. I’ll call you guys tomorrow,” Henn replied as she made her way to the door.

“Add another day to that,” Tate yelled out. “Make it two.”

With a final wave, she was gone.

“Eggs, pancakes, sausage?” Tate asked.

“I thought we were going to fuck first?”

“You need a lot of calories for what I have in mind,” Tate chuckled.

I glanced at him, or rather, at the white shirt he was wearing. Or not wearing, since it was unbuttoned, showing off his tight pecs and abs. Then I noticed the monogram on the cuff.

Tate was wearing my shirt.

A shiver ran through my body. Fuck, I liked it. I loved it.

“Nice button down,” I commented. “A little tight around the biceps, though.”

“I think I look pretty good,” Tate smiled, and those dimples did me in. “You don’t mind?”

“That you’re wearing my clothes? Fuck, no. It’s sexy as hell. What brought that on?”

Tate pulled me off the stool and into his arms, giving me a resounding kiss. I forgot all about breakfast and contracts and lawsuits.

“I had a realization last night, at one in the morning.”

“And?” I asked, curious.

Tate smiled and licked his lips.

“I’m better at show than tell.”

CHAPTER 38

REED

THREE MONTHS LATER

Iglanced at my phone and the last message Tate sent me.

Tate: Meet me at 11. 3561 St. Sierra Blvd.

He’d left the house early this morning, telling me that he had an errand to run, but not what or where. Which wasn’t like him. Not just being up and out the door by six AM, but the way he nearly vaulted out of our bed.

After three months of living together, I knew my man. And an early wakeup call, unless it was about work, was rare.

I wracked my brain about his upcoming auditions, but nothing came to mind. He had one role booked but filming didn’t start for another month.

So why the rush to leave home today? And why the sudden meeting at an unfamiliar address?

Something was going on.

As I sat in my car, in our driveway, I texted him.
