His work required him to remain inconspicuous, but Korry, like his twin Kiernan, was still a standout.

He was handsome and flirty. And that Irish accent didn’t hurt either.

A couple of years ago, I would’ve taken him up on his flirtation and enjoyed a no strings hook up.

But now?

All I could think about was…

“Get your hands off him.”

Tate’s thunderous voice snapped me back into reality.

Next thing I knew, Tate was looming over the two of us. Until Korry stood up to him, eye to eye.

“Easy, boyo,” Korry held up his hands. “I was just?—”

“I know what you were doing,” Tate hissed. “Don’t touch him.”

“Tay,” I warned and reached out to grab his arm. “What the hell is wrong with you?”

Korry glanced at me. “He thought I was making a move. Ain’t that right, Tate?”

Tate stepped in front of me, blocking me from Korry.

“You have ten seconds to get out of this house.”

“I can’t believe this is happening,” I gasped and tried to push Tate aside. He wouldn’t budge. “Korry, I’m so sorry.”

“It’s all right, Reed. I have to get going anyway.” Korry stepped around Tate and gave me a nod. “You two enjoy the rest of your night.”

He headed for the front door, and I walked after him.

“I’m so embarrassed. I don’t know what’s gotten into him, Kor. Please, don’t go.”

The bodyguard grabbed his jacket and threw it on, giving me a quick grin before he reached for the door handle. “You’ve nothing to apologize for. And I knew exactly what I was doing. Go calm your man down.”

“He’s not mine,” I muttered, shaking my head.

“Coulda fooled me. He was the only thing you talked about at the pub. And seeing him tonight, the way he looks at you? I’ve only got one other thing to say: you’re welcome.”

Shocked and bemused, I was left standing there, while Korry gave a final wave and headed out into the rainy night.

I closed the door and took a deep breath before I stalked back down the hallway.

“You are, without a doubt, the biggest prick I’ve ever known,” I pronounced.

Tate was sitting in the chair closest to the fireplace, leaning forward, elbows on his thighs, head in his hands. He didn’t look up, so I walked right up to him.

“Did you hear me?” I bellowed.

“I did. And that’s not an insult, Reed,” Tate replied as he finally looked at me. “Try again.”

“Fine! You’re the biggest asshole to ever ass.”

Tate shook his head and bit his lower lip. It looked like he was trying not to laugh. Which made my temper ratchet up another notch.

Then I noticed that his hands were shaking.
