“Do you fear being alone?”

“I used to. But now I find having some space to myself helps me to concentrate on what’s right for me.” She said the words but didn’t know if she meant them. They felt like something she was supposed to say over what she truly felt.

“I know what you mean. I love going hiking alone, just me and nature. I commune well by myself.”

She wanted to feel comfortable with being alone like that.

Callie laid her hand on his thigh. The muscles tensed under her touch, and she removed it immediately. “Sorry.”

“Don’t be. As much as I love being alone, I think that I love being with you more.”

She sucked in a quick breath. “I love being with you, too, Liam.”

“Crazy that Trent brought us together, right?”

“No, Trent didn’t. Fate did.”

He leaned toward her, and she met him halfway until they hovered within a hair’s width from touching. “I don’t know what’ll happen tomorrow, Callie, but I know I want you tonight.”

She nodded. “I can be yours tonight, Liam. I’m not alone.”

“I’m here, sweetheart.”

He closed the gap, and she let the gentle pressure pull her into the kiss. His lips glided across hers. This time wasn’t like the hot and fast in the movie theatre; it was soft and lifted her up like a cloud. He was giving her the night she needed. Slow and gentle.

Callie leaned back and tugged him with her until he was lying on top of her on the sofa. His hand skimmed up her dress. The sequins released tiny clicks. His hand cupped her breast, and she arched her back. There was no fear in this moment. There was only Liam.

“It zips on the side.” She moaned as his fingers worked the zipper.

His cock pressed into her belly. Energetic internal trembles rocked her body.

“You’re so beautiful. You know that, right?”

Callie did know. She could look in the mirror and see the beauty he saw. It was there. She’d just equated her weight with less, not more, but in his eyes, he saw so much more in her.

“Liam…” she rushed his name as his mouth engulfed her nipple. Teeth grazed over the pebbled mound, making her head spin like she was a skater doing a pirouette. “Fuck. Yes.”

“Fuck. No, please.”

In their quest to act like horny teenagers, they’d missed the front door opening. Liam’s large hand covered most of her breast, but she squirmed to move her dress over her body.

“Sorry guys,” Sam’s voice chuckled.

Liam raised his head. “Keep moving, baby brother.”

“Not a baby … brother.” Sam growled as he walked by. “Good night, Callie,” he called out as his door closed.

Liam adjusted her dress over her body. “I guess Sam didn’t get as lucky as he thought he would.”

“And I think that effectively puts a damper on our activities.”

“There’s always tomorrow night.” Liam sat up and helped Callie to do the same. She adjusted the dress, and he zipped her back up. “Gorgeous dress.”

“Thanks. Meg really does have a way in getting her way.”

Liam stood, and Callie had to divert her gaze. “It’s going to take a little while for this to go away, sorry.”

Inside she floated with happiness. His body was reacting to her. He wanted her. But the disappointment set in.
