Scribe jumped to his feet and shouted, “I’m good! See, all better. Let’s get this over with.”

“Let’s get it over?” Henley gasped.

Scribe paled, quickly back peddling. “Now, Princess, that’s not what I meant.”

“Then what did you mean?”

Scribe glanced at Bailey for help, who merely rolled her eyes. “Oh, for crying out loud. He’s already lost his man card and is in the doghouse, Henley. Do we really want him to piss his pants too?”

“Point taken.” Henley nodded, then sighed. “We better get this over with fast.”

Walking back to my seat next to Frank’s grandmother, who was holding Charlie, I chuckled. “He will never live this down.”

“Got that right, and I’ve got it all on video,” the older woman teased conspiratorially.

“Gonna need you to send me that.”

“Oh, honey. I’m sending it to everyone.”

Chapter Seventeen

Frank

My brother was married.

Well, I was almost positive he was. I still wasn’t sure Stevie’s interpretation of the communion was legal, but when Priest said man and wife, I figured all was good.

At least Scribe stayed on his feet for the rest of the ceremony. As for his man card, oh, he was never getting that back. The reception went off without incident and now everyone was having the time of their lives as the newlyweds ducked upstairs for some alone time.

They weren’t due to leave for their honeymoon until this weekend, and I guessed they wanted to get a jumpstart on all the fun.

I was happy for my brother. He married a woman who was too damn good for him, and he knew it. The wedding video my granny took was a testament to that, and now, thanks to Gunner, the entire world was getting a good laugh.

Last I looked, the video was trending on all social media platforms.

Watching my family celebrate and enjoy themselves, I watched as Claudia laughed at something Devlyn said.

God, she was so beautiful.

Throughout Scribe’s meltdown, she kept a level head, letting nothing distract her. She was an exceptional doctor. Anyone could see that as she cared for Scribe. And when the drama was over, she didn’t belittle or make fun like the others did. She let nothing frazzle her.

I wanted so much to walk over there and talk to her. I wondered if she would dance with me. I wanted to know what it felt like to have her in my arms as we swayed to music. Even if it was only one time.

That would be enough for me.

Just once with my dream girl.

“You okay, Frank?”

Looking up from my beer, I spotted Cameron standing next to me.

“I’m good, little buddy. You having fun?”

“Kind of,” he muttered, looking down at his feet. “Frank. You gonna marry Dr. Claudia?”

“Why are you asking me that?”

“Because that old lady told me you were,” he said, pointing at my granny, who raised a glass in salute toward me.
