“No, buddy. We’re just friends. That’s all. Now give me a hug.”

Cameron threw his arms around my neck, hugging me tight. After a few minutes, I released him and wiped his tears. “Now, tomorrow, I want you to apologize to Dr. Claudia, okay?”

He nodded. “I promise.”

“Good. Now go have some more cake. I think Ms. Beth hid some in the fridge for later.”

“Let’s go, Cameron,” Skylar said before looking at me. “I’m really sorry, Frank. I’ll make sure it won’t happen again.”

“No worries, Sky. All is good.”

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get to sleep. All I could see was the hurt in her eyes when she stood there in that room while everyone stared at her. For a second, I could have sworn I saw her eyes well up with unshed tears before she left the clubhouse.

I wanted so much to run after her.

Maybe I should have.

But she was clear with me.

She just wanted to be friends.

Laying there in the dark, my mind wandered back to New Year’s Eve and the woman I slept with. It still bugged me I hadn’t figured it out, but knowing what I knew now, I could take Claudia off that list.

A bright light flashed in my room, capturing my attention. Getting up, I looked outside and growled when I spotted several men sneaking around the tree line on our property. “And just who in the hell are you?”

Just then, my phone alerted me to a perimeter breach.

Well, I may not remember the woman I screwed the night of New Year’s Eve, but this I could handle. Opening my closet, I quickly dressed in my tac gear, bending over to grab my boots. Sitting on my bed, I slid my feet into them before lacing them up. Standing, I walked over to the mirror hanging on the wall and removed it to reveal my hidden wall safe. While I was all for King keeping the weapons locked in the armory, there was no fucking way he was shelving my gun. Pulling it out along with several of the clips I kept fully loaded, I placed them in one of the many pockets I had on me. Pulling back on the chamber, I loaded a bullet.

Opening my door, I saw King and Scribe both staring at me when King asked, “Where the fuck you are going dressed like that?”

“Saw movement out back.” I grumbled, heading for the stairs.

“You remember your little rabbit yet, Frank?” Scribe yawned.

I growled. “No.”

Hurrying down the stairs, I just made it to the back door when Jessica and the other women rushed in with all the kids in tow.

“Frank,” Jessica gasped. “There are men everywhere.”

“Get inside. Find King,” I ordered, pushing past her while I hurried outside to find several of the cabins on fire.

Motherfuckers!

Didn’t they know how expensive those things were to build?

Running for the tree line, I spotted an intruder and fired instantly.

Trespassing on Sons of Hell land in the dead of night without an invitation was a no-no.

Setting our cabins on fire, well, that was just plain stupid.

It wasn’t long before I felt someone slide up next to me.

I should have known it would be Scribe.

Brother never let me go anywhere without him.
