“Any skeletons in your closet?” she countered.

He laughed. “No.”

She took a breath and then said something he hadn’t been expecting. “I hear you’re a bit of a flirt.”

Callum’s brows lifted.

Vivian glanced at him quickly, then away. “Actually, I heard you sleep around. A lot.”

Shit. He hadn’t expected to have this conversation yet. “What is it you want to know?”

“Is it true?”

Avoiding the question, he took a long sip from the bottle.

“So it is,” she confirmed.

“I slept around a lot, yes.” He wasn’t going to lie or hide anything from her. “I knew that one day I was going to find my mate, and until that day came, it made no sense to have a steady girlfriend. But that didn’t mean I was going to miss out.” He set the bottle on the wooden planks between them. “Is it a problem for you?”

She stared at him, her gaze assessing. “Is it going to continue?” Before he could answer, she rushed through another question. “And if it does, will there be a double-standard, or am I expected to be faithful while you’re not?”

Anger rushed through him. “No other man touches you.” His words were a growl between clenched teeth.

“Then no other woman touches you, right?”

His expression softened, and he extended his arm. “Deal.”

Both smiling, they shook on it.

“I always intended to be faithful to you,” Callum told her. “Even before I met you, which is maybe why I was a little excessive when it came to women. But I’m really happy with you, and I can’t see faithfulness being a hardship.”

Her gaze moved over him, clearly pleased with his admission. “Honestly, as long as it doesn’t continue, I’m kind of glad you’re experienced. I’m the beneficiary of your knowledge.”

Her scent grew stronger as they both remembered the last few evenings they’d spent together. Likely, her panties were still wet.

Damn, he had to stop thinking about that, or he’d be taking her on this balcony and praying it was strong enough to handle a rigorous round of lovemaking.

“What do you and Rafe talk about up here?”

She looked back at the trees. He followed her gaze, enjoying the smell of the earth, and watching the way the leaves moved as the rain assaulted them.

“Sometimes we just sit here. Sometimes, we talk about books or movies. Or the pack, Elliot, Mercer and Duncan.”

“You used to like him, didn’t you?”

Vivian glanced over. “Rafe?”

Callum nodded.

“Yes. I did.” The blush came back. “I used to hope he’d mate with me, and save me from my family.”

His gaze narrowed. “What’s wrong with your family?”

Taking the bottle from where he’d left it, Vivian brought it toward her lips. “They’re not the best.” She took a sip. “Do you want to have kids?”

It was a deliberate side step, but he let it go. She’d tell him when she was ready, and until then, he wouldn’t pry, but considering her father had bullied her into becoming the perfect little housewife, he could only imagine what she’d had to endure.

“I’d be happy with kids. You?”
