“Wow,” Callum whispered when Vivian led him through the last of the trees, stopping at the edge of the riverbed.

Over thirty feet above them, the water cut its way down the great burgundy and gray granite rock face from two spots. It accumulated at the base and continued down the stream. Pebbled sand and slate rocks surrounded the river, and rejuvenated vegetation encompassed the whole picturesque scene. Maples, white pines and eastern hemlock were bathed in sunlight as white streams of water sang their continuous melody. Between the split in the waterfall was a tree slowly losing the battle to gravity as it leaned outward from the rocks.

“This is beautiful,” Callum breathed.

Proudly, Vivian smiled. “I love this place. Generally, I come here to read, but sometimes I bring a sketchbook and try to capture it, but I’m not a very good artist.”

“I can’t draw to save my life,” he told her. “Alyssa is amazing at painting landscapes. One more thing you two can talk about.”

“She’s Drew’s mate, right?”

Callum nodded. “Yep.”

Turning, he faced her as he reached for the hem of his shirt. Slowly, gaze fastened to hers, he peeled it up and over his head. Smirking, he let her look, and she took full advantage.

She took in his hard pecs, the lines of his abs, the sparse, fair hair that led from his abdomen and lower, disappearing into the waistband of his pants.

Swallowing, she bunched her fists to keep from reaching out.

She looked up, watching his eyes, wondering just what was about to happen. Would he deflower her right here? On the rocks? In the bright sunlight? Imprint on her, and make her his forever?

Part of her wanted him to. Part of her was nervous.

His hands dropped to his jeans. Her gaze followed.

Laughing, he opened the snap and eased the zipper down. “I’d ask you to come help me, but I’m afraid if you come closer, looking at me like that—all innocent and curious—I’m going to need to seduce you, and that’s not at all what I had in mind.”

The smile on his face was teasing, one she’s quickly grown to love. Releasing a breath, she licked her dry lips and forced out a question she wasn’t sure she wanted the answer to. “What did you have in mind?”

His head cocked to the side. “Based on the look on your face, I’d say you’re more interested in my new train of thought.” Before she could respond, he grabbed his waistband, and in one swift movement, lowered both his boxers and jeans. “But I figured we could go for a run.”

The words were a buzz in her ears. All her focus was on his sex, his shaft. His semi-aroused, long, thick, dare she think it—cock.

She’d seen pictures of them in textbooks. She’d seen them in real life too, at pack runs before the male members shifted, but never up close. This one seemed so much bigger than what she’d imagined.

And it was hers.

She wanted to touch it. Wanted to kiss it. Hold it. Nuzzle it.

Was that normal?

If Rafe was to be believed, it was.

Her body pulsed, her nipples tightened. His scent surrounded her, making her wolf call to her. I want him. Mine.

“Vivian!” Callum’s call was more of a shout, like he’d tried multiple times to gain her attention. Likely he had been calling her name repeatedly, while she stood like some fifteenth century maiden faced with her very first penis.

Her cheeks heated. “Sorry.”

His gaze scorched her with its intensity. And then he was moving fast, with sure strides, closing the distance between them. She grew wet with anticipation.

Firm hands framed her face. His lips lowered, mere inches above hers.

Ready for his kiss, she closed her eyes and leaned forward, but instead of the pressure she longed for, his lips only ghosted across hers as he whispered, “Let’s go for a run.”

Then he was gone, leaving her unsteady, wet, and needy.

Blinking, she looked after him, watching as he took several steps toward the riverbed, and shifted.
