“Come on.” Alvie gives me a wink. “It’s moving day.”

Bex bolts up and starts scrambling out of bed. “Alright. Let’s go. Grab your shit. Get dressed.”

Alvie and I both chuckle at the sudden flip in Bex’s energy.

Apparently, she gets out of bed for more than just coffee.

She goes around the room, pulling her athleisure wear from their various homes and throwing them onto the bed.

Alvie crawls into bed with his own cup of coffee and pulls me into his arms as she bounces around. We sit there together for a while, just resting and enjoying Bex’s flighty nature.

“Selene asked me yesterday if she needs to send one or two invitations to the ranch,” I inform quietly.

“For her wedding?” Alvie asks.

“Yeah,” I reply.

“Her wedding isn’t until, like, eight months, right? She’s already doing invitations?” Alvie says louder, drawing Bex’s attention.

“She’s started putting together the list at least.” I shrug, snuggling back farther into his chest.

“Well, seating us at the reception is going to be a bitch,” Bex says as she tugs on her tennis shoes.

“Why?” I say, glancing up at her.

“If we’re there as the three of us, then who’s the odd man out at our table?”

“Oh. She already said she’d seat us with Reka and her guys. Then she’ll put another couple with us to fill out the eight-top,” I share.

“She already said, bunny?” Alvie teases.

“Oh. Oh!” My eyes widen. “Fucking Selene! She knew and she didn’t tell me!”

Alvie takes my mug of hot coffee from my hands to avoid me splashing it all over our naked bodies as he laughs at my antics.

“Sometimes, we just need to figure things out for ourselves, bunny,” Alvie says, nuzzling his face into my hair.

“A hint would have been nice.” I pout.

“Pretty sure the U-Haul took care of that.” Bex laughs as she comes walking out of the closet with clothes for Alvie and me. “You were always meant to be with us, Naomi.”

Alvie tucks his head into the crook of my neck.

“And what about the other stuff? Like finances, and families, and kids, a-an . . . school. Fuck, I almost forgot. I dropped out.” My heart starts to race as my thoughts begin to spiral and I take in the magnitude of how fucked up my life is currently.

“Shhh . . . ,” Alvie says, putting down both containers of coffee on the side table before returning and running his hand up and down my side in a soothing pattern. “You should talk to Durante about going back to school. But we can figure out the rest as we go.”

I hide myself in Alvie’s shoulder. “Right. Yeah. You’re right.”

“I can always make another slideshow if you want,” Bex jokes.

“Oh! You never did show that to me, you know.” Bex’s eyes widen, and a giddy smile takes over her face before she rushes out of the room. I look to Alvie, confused. “What?”

“You did this.” He laughs. “She practiced on me for like a solid two hours.”

Bex comes bounding back into the room, iPad in hand, and hops onto the foot of the bed.

“So. Polyamory comes in a bunch of different forms. I’ll start by explaining where we went wrong, aka hierarchical polyamory. Well, at least wrong for us.”
