No one has ever spoken to me like that.

Electric joy tingles in my stomach. Then lower. And lower still.

He chuckles as if he knows. “I thought so,” he says with a wink.

His hand sinks into my hair, forcing me to the ground. My knees hit the concrete flooring and the next second his free hand is pummeling my ass.

“I said get in,” he orders, still spanking me, harder and harder.

I stumble forward, mostly to avoid the pain he’s creating in my ass, until I’m inside the crate. There’s enough room for me to crawl inside and turn around, and by the time I do, he has the door shut. He’s locking it.

My fingers curl around the bars of the crate.

“I won’t snoop anymore,” I promise.

He squats down in front of me. “I know you won’t.”

His wicked grin is back. The whiteness of his teeth a stark contrast to his black beard and tanned skin.

“Why are you doing this?” I ask, shaking the crate.

His left eyebrow arches into a perfect peak. “I won, remember?” He reaches his giant fingers through the bars to gently touch my nose with the tip of his finger.

“Where’s Colt? I want to talk to Colt.” I look toward the door Alexander slammed. It’s metal. How thick is it? I shouldn’t have played with him. I shouldn’t have trusted him.

“Colt! Colt! Help me!” I scream, my eyes avoiding the pleasure written all over Alexander’s face. Compared to this madman, Colt is reasonable. He’ll make Alexander let me out of this crate. He’s been the only one so far that’s shown even a moment of compassion for my situation. He won’t let me rot in this damn crate.

“Colt left an hour ago to get supplies,” Alexander says with too much satisfaction lacing his tone. “And he wouldn’t hear you anyway. Now, be a good little kitten and curl up and sleep.” He stands, stretching up to his full height. “I have work to do.”

I watch in frustration as he pulls out a gaming chair from one of the tables and sinks into it. The monitors to the left of him are all security footage of the building.

Resigned, I sink back onto my heels. Something round pushes into my knee, and I move it, reaching beneath the cushion until I find the item.

It’s a little ball with a bell inside.

He looks over at me when I shake it, and smiles. “You can play with your toy if you want.”

I keep my eye on him while I push the toy through the bars. It’s a tight squeeze, but it pops out the other side and rolls toward him.

He shakes his head and turns back to his computers.

He’s done with me.

And I’m stuck in this cage.

CHAPTER 6

Colt

“Where is she?” I call down to the men downstairs.

I’d called Alexander twice today while I was out on a job to be sure she was doing all right. After coming home yesterday and finding Seraphina in one of his crates, I wanted to keep tabs on her. She hadn’t gotten herself into any trouble today, but she’s not downstairs and her room is empty. Could she have been playing it safe until she had a moment that let her slip off the property?

She’d been lucky Alexander was working on a deadline, otherwise her afternoon would haven’t been so calm.

This morning she’d asked where the vacuum was; wanting to do some cleaning while we were all working. I’d shown her the storage closet with the vacuum and other cleaning supplies, but told her not to overdo. We didn’t need a maid.

From the looks of the place, I’d say she completely overdid it. We keep a tidy place, but it practically shines now.
