“We’d been reaching out to Alphas who might be interested in helping to protect Omegas,” Dylan says. “It started with connecting up with some friends of Seth’s. Then we found a group of Frank Palmer’s sons who were celebrating his death. It turned into an official group. Long story short, we have like thirty guys who want to help put the academies back together the right way.”

I feel better knowing Secret’s not going to be risking her neck.

Dylan, too. They’re both Omegas. They need the protection of Alphas.

“Promise me, you’ll stay away from any actual fighting?” I ask Secret.

Secret sighs loudly. “I should have known you’d take Seth’s side.”

“It’s not just Seth’s side this time,” Dylan reminds her. “It’s also Cassidy’s, Ryan’s and mine. None of us would let Secret risk becoming bait for a bunch of predatory killers. You don’t need to worry about that.”

It only takes one look to know he’s telling the truth.

None of Secret’s mates would ever let her risk her life.

She’s in safe hands.

Chapter Ten

Leanne

Secret and Dylan explain the different parts of their hand-drawn section of the map while we wait to be called to the kitchen for dinner. I can’t help feeling a little apprehensive about their plan. Even knowing Secret’s mates would never put her in harm’s way, what they’re planning to do seems like a surefire way to rile up a bunch of dangerous Alphas.

“Can’t you do this before the day the academy’s scheduled to close?” I ask, trying to think of a way that they could minimise the risk of encountering Alphas who might be mad that they’re interfering with the Omegas they consider to be theirs.

Dylan shakes his head, and I turn to see Ryan stepping into the room. He closes the door behind him.

“Dinner might be a bit longer,” Ryan says, his eyebrows rising when he looks at the plan spread out over the bed. He frowns at Dylan. “Do you really need to work on that right now?”

“Secret wanted to show Leanne,” Dylan says, sounding a little defensive.

Ryan sighs, crossing his arms as he glances at me. “It’s not as risky as it sounds.”

“Like hell it isn’t. Why can’t you do this now, and get those Omegas out of harm’s way before the Alphas try to capture them?” I ask him.

He’s quiet, and I realize I’m thinking about it all wrong.

They’re waiting for the day the school officially closes for a reason.

“Uh …” Dylan murmurs, his expressive green eyes going wide. “It’s just that …”

“We’re trying to nail those Alphas,” Secret tells me. “Otherwise, they’ll find out we’ve moved their prey and they’ll come after the Omegas, putting even more people at risk.”

“So, what?” I ask. “You close the academy and make it seem like the Omegas are just being released?”

“Something like that,” Ryan admits. “Secret won’t be there. She’ll be right here with Cassidy and Dylan. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if you were here, too.”

I let out a breath, and nod. “How will you know you’ve caught all of them?”

“Seth took a peek at Colvindale’s records. We have a list, and we’ll make sure every name on it is taken care of before we come back home.”

He doesn’t have to say anything else. I know he’s going out there to kill a bunch of psycho Alphas.

He’s worked in security for years, so he knows his way around firearms.

If anyone’s perfect for that kind of work, it’s Ryan.

He killed Frank Palmer, and he helped save my life.
