“Oh, wait. I keep meaning to check if there’s anything you’re not supposed to eat while you’re pregnant.” I set the plate down and get my phone out of my pocket.

“Did you just say you’re pregnant?” Spencer asks, his bright eyes wide.

Toshi smiles. “It’s not confirmed. We’re just hoping.”

Spencer’s mouth drops open. His plate tips and something in a red sauce plops onto the floor.

“Fingers crossed,” I murmur, shrugging.

“Oh …” Spencer puts his plate down and scoops up the mess on the floor up with a couple of napkins. He gets up, stumbles over his own feet and then heads to the kitchen.

“Do you think that shocked him?” I ask Toshi.

“I think it might have,” he says, laughing a little. “But don’t worry. He talks about kids with Echo a lot. They definitely want a whole bunch of them.”

“That’s good to know.” I google for stuff I shouldn’t eat, and I find out the list is smaller than I thought it was. “Did you know there’s no link to eating peanuts while pregnant and having a child with a peanut allergy?”

“Yeah, I think they debunked that a while ago.”

“Well, I think I’ll be having some of the satay since that’s not an issue.”

He takes my plate and sets down his own. “Fried rice?”

I nod, and he puts some satay and some rice on my plate.

I check the list again and close the browser on my phone.

“I’m so glad I can eat this stuff.”

“What else takes your fancy?”

I pick out a few things and he puts them on my plate.

“Thanks,” I tell him as I take it.

Chapter Ninety-Two

Spencer

Finding E.A. and Echo making out against the kitchen wall after hearing Leanne talk about being pregnant makes me start to wonder if I actually woke up this morning. I toss my napkin in the trash and wash my hands when I realize the sweet and sour sauce dripped on them. I’m grabbing a hand towel as E.A. moves away from Echo.

When I pinch my arm, nothing happens.

Guess I’m not dreaming, then.

I’m not sure how to take the change in E.A., but something about it is starting to piss me off even more than when he’s being distant and making Echo feel unwanted.

He never joined in whenever we talked about adopting kids.

His feelings were always hard to read when it came to that subject, and now, suddenly, he’s fully on board for getting our newest mate pregnant days after we just met her?

He’s also giving up the case he’s been absorbed with for years, dropping it as if it never mattered, when it’s been on the forefront of his thoughts, forever?

Oh, and, as a bonus what-the-hell he’s finally decided to show Echo the affection he’s been starving him of for months?

“Spencer,” Echo starts, his tone wary.

I look at our Omega, and I know he’s been crying.
