Leanne nods. “I don’t know Spencer as well as the rest of you, but I trust your decision, E.A.”

“Well, we all know Spencer is awesome,” Echo says, smiling back at him as he moves back a little, taking my hand instead of hugging my body. “You’ll get to know that, too, Leanne.”

“I think I’m going to turn in early,” I state, mostly because I’ve spent longer than usual with everyone and I’m feeling a little like I need some quiet.

“I’ll turn in with you,” Echo says.

“I’d like that,” I tell him.

Echo knows that I need quiet sometimes, and he’s always been content to lie down with me in the dark in silence, with no expectation or desire for anything more than holding each other close.

That sounds like heaven to me. After everything, it’s the perfect ending to the day.

I walk him into my room, and he closes the door on the sound of the TV as it goes back on.

Chapter Ninety-Four

Leanne

I spend a nice night with my mates, eating takeout and watching TV. It’s chilled out and perfect.

I only start to get nervous about tomorrow when E.A. gets up to go to bed, and Echo goes with him.

If he resets his alarm, my plan is officially crushed flat.

And maybe it should be.

E.A. just admitted the case was hurting him and causing him to hurt to pack. He made Spencer the pack’s lead Alpha because of that, and he gave the case away to The Alpha Coalition.

There’s no way those were easy choices.

“Damn,” Toshi says, as he leans back and puts his arm around me again. “I guess I don’t get the good mattress tonight.”

“The good mattress?” Spencer asks, raising an eyebrow at him.

“Have you ever laid down on E.A.’s bed?” Toshi asks, making Spencer flush.

Why would he ever have laid down on E.A.’s bed? They’re just friends.

“What? No,” Spencer scoffs.

“Well, it’s the comfiest bed I’ve ever met.” Toshi sighs. “It’s my dream bed.”

I smile at him. “Your dream bed?”

“You know, like you get a dream car or whatever. It’s the city so cars are a pain in the ass. Beds are where it’s at.” He’s talking nonsense, but it’s funny and it’s cute.

“So, you’re telling me we need a new bed in our room?” Spencer asks.

I swear, Toshi’s eyes light right up at that suggestion.

“You’d do that for me?”

“I mean, it is your dream bed, right?” he asks.

“Shouldn’t you ask Echo if that’s cool?” I ask.

“Echo’s mentioned how comfy E.A.’s bed is before,” Spencer admits. “I thought he was just … exaggerating, or whatever. Apparently not.”
