Something’s wrong. I feel it deep in my soul, and I know it’s my enhanced senses warning my Alpha instincts. I jerk awake, sitting up quickly, and gasping in a breath. I look to my right and see Toshi, rubbing at his eyes as he groans beside me.

One glance to my left, and I know why I woke up.

Leanne’s gone.

I get up and go to the bedroom door. It’s closed, and when I open it, I see the living room is empty.

I go into the bathroom, and then into Toshi’s room.

No sign of our mate.

“Fuck,” I mutter as I dart out of Toshi’s room.

I check the kitchen, but my heart doesn’t sink all the way until I check the hall.

Her shoes are gone, and the front door is unlocked.

I go to E.A.’s door and start knocking.

“E.A., wake the hell up!” I yell out. “Leanne’s gone!”

I try the handle and the door actually opens.

He didn’t lock it. Holy fucking shit.

The world really did turn upside down.

Echo and E.A. are sitting up in bed when I push the door open.

“Did you hear me?” I ask them.

“My alarm didn’t go off,” E.A. mutters.

“No shit.”

I rush back to my room. “Toshi, get up. Leanne’s gone.”

I throw on clothes and dart back to the hallway for my boots.

Echo’s in yesterday’s clothes when he comes out of E.A.’s room and grabs his boots, sitting on the floor to put them on.

“She wouldn’t,” he says, looking at me. “She wouldn’t, would she?”

“Clearly, she would,” I tell him.

I should have known something more was wrong when I found her crying.

It didn’t seem like she was lying, but maybe she just didn’t tell me everything.

Like that she was still going ahead with E.A.’s batshit crazy plan to infiltrate Anchor West and find that stupid fucking jar.

E.A. comes out of his room fully clothed, and Toshi appears next, his fly undone and his shirt on backwards.

“She was upset after she spoke to Secret last night,” I tell them. “So, we call her first.”

“Her number’s in the file on my office desk,” E.A. tells me.

I nod. “Go get it. We’ll be down in a second.”
