“How about a week or two later?” She shrugs when I look at her.

I give it a try, and there’s a twenty-two year old female listed, with dark hair.

“This girl’s friend reported her missing. She was supposed to be going on vacation, but she never returned and when the girl checked her room, her packed bags were on her bedroom floor.”

“She could fit the fifth of October date.” E.A. looks at me.

“I already pressed print.”

“Feels like we’re starting to get somewhere,” Leanne says. “Should we tell Toshi and Spencer they need to recheck the other dates for meetings?”

“Good catch,” E.A. tells her. “Echo, do you have a red pen?”

I check my drawer. “I have a purple one.”

I pass it to him when he nods.

He picks up the print offs and puts them on top of the rest before he disappears back into Spencer’s office. I look at Leanne. She seems lost in thought.

“I think this is going to be good for him,” I tell her. “When we’re done with it, I mean. It’s been so damn long. Actually seeing this case go somewhere is kind of crazy.”

“So, you forgive me for sneaking out?” she asks.

I smile. “I wasn’t mad at you. I get why you did it. I’m just glad you didn’t get hurt.”

“Thanks, Echo,” she says, smiling back at me.

I kind of love that I can feel the warm and fuzzies that I totally just gave her.

She’s going to fall for me so hard. I can’t wait to feel it when she does.

E.A. steps back into the room and we all hear the knocks on the door in the entrance hall.

I glance at E.A. “What’s that?”

Leanne blinks. “Oh, hey, Seth …”

“He’s been gone for over an hour,” E.A. says, frowning.

“That seems a little weird.”

I get up and follow them both into the entrance hall.

Chapter One Hundred Five

Leanne

I can’t believe we completely forgot about Seth. It’s kind of strange how long he’s been gone for, but timing can be everything in the city. If he got to the pizza place during a randomly extra busy period, he was probably waiting around for most of that hour.

I follow E.A. out into the entrance hall.

“Lunch is served!” a voice calls out before knocking on the door again.

I let out a relieved breath. “That’s Ryan. Seth must have gone and got him before he went for the pizzas. He was part of the whole Victor Hayes operation.”

E.A. unlocks the door and opens it.

Ryan nods at me as he walks in, a massive bottle of soda in his hand. “Where should I put this?”
