The laughter that bubbles out of me feels mean, and I don’t give a shit. E.A. always thinks he’s being so fucking smart. He messed up his own dumb plan and I couldn’t be happier.
Leanne Leto is a spitfire, and she just shot him down.
There’s no way in hell that woman will ever set foot in this place ever again.
E.A., as usual, seems unperturbed, but it takes a lot to get a reaction so it’s not that surprising.
Echo dashes over to the door. “What just happened? Where did she go?”
I dry the tears that are starting to seep out of the corners of my eyes.
“I would assume she just took the job she was offered at Anchor West,” E.A. murmurs, which cuts my laughter short.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” I ask. “That’s why you did that?”
He shrugs. “Seemed like the easy option.”
“Jesus fucking Christ, you’re a psychopath!”
“Actually, he’s more of a sociopath,” Echo reminds me, shrugging when I shoot him a glower. “You’re not mad at me, and you won’t be mad at him soon enough, either.”
Our mate has his gaze fixed on E.A. and I don’t know what’s going on, but there’s clearly something.
“You know. Wait. No. You already knew.” Echo nods slowly. “Why am I not surprised?”
“Don’t you always say nothing ever surprises you when it comes to me and my diabolical plans?”
“What are you two talking about?” I ask.
E.A. raises an eyebrow at me. “You didn’t feel it?”
“Feel what?” I ask.
Clearly, I’m missing something.
I have no idea what the hell it is.
“Leanne Leto is fated to be ours,” E.A. says, as if he’s talking about the weather, or his coffee order.
I blink at Echo, and I can tell by the dreamy look in his eyes that it’s true.
At least, our Omega felt something when he met her.
I’m not convinced E.A.’s capable of feeling anything.
Especially now.
“How the hell can you know something like that, and still be okay with her risking her life?”
