“Thanks. Speak soon.”

I hang up and sit back in the chair.

She’s not going to miss me if I’m busy for a few days. She has her mates around her.

All I need to worry about right now is how I’m going to pull off locating and extracting pivotal evidence from a human trafficker’s top floor office.

I’m sure that’ll be a piece of cake.

I get up from the seat and leave the room.

First things first, a girl’s got to eat.

Chapter Thirty-Three

Echo

So far, so good. The longer Leanne’s with us, the less likely she is to think about leaving. I know she doesn’t want to be in that apartment, and maybe it’s a little soon to be thinking about asking her to move in, but I don’t think she’ll refuse to stay over with us if it gets kind of late while we’re working on this stuff.

“Oh my God,” she murmurs as Toshi and Spencer bring the takeout delivery into the reception area. “That looks like way too much.”

“Believe me, for us it’s not,” I assure her.

E.A. as usual excuses himself from the meal, heading out the back door to go up to the apartment.

I don’t know if it’s the smell he can’t stand, or what, but he doesn’t eat anything spicy, or sauce-filled, or basically anything that might have some kind of flavor involved beyond a touch of salt, and he doesn’t really seem to like watching us eat this stuff, either.

Leanne’s eyes get even wider. “This isn’t only for the four of us?”

“Have you seen Spencer?” I ask, raising an eyebrow. “Don’t worry. You’re more likely to lose a hand reaching for the last wonton.”

“Nah,” Spencer assures her as he puts the filled bag down on the table. “Crab claws are my downfall. I wouldn’t take your hand off for a wonton. I mean, they’re good, but they’re not that good.”

I start taking everything out and opening it up.

“This looks really good,” Leanne admits.

“We pretty much just share everything,” I tell her.

“Except the crab claws,” Spencer reminds me.

I roll my eyes. “Except the crab claws.”

Toshi picks up a spring roll and dips it in sauce.

Leanne takes a fork and spears a piece of spicy, crumb-coated chicken.

She makes a noise of appreciation almost immediately.

Spencer takes his eyes off the crab claws I’m opening, staring at her like she just did something completely scandalous in front of him. I guess she did. That was kind of a sexy little moan.

Clearly, she’s affecting him as his fated mate more than he realized.

The opportunity is there to seize a crab claw, but I know I won’t get the chance to actually eat it before Spencer notices, and I don’t like them enough to put up with his complaints before he concedes to share. I’m his mate, and his Omega. Of course he’d share if I actually wanted him to.

Toshi realizes our Alpha is distracted a second too late and earns a slapped hand for his attempt to steal one of Spencer’s favorite treats for himself. As a pack brother, I’m not sure Toshi could convince Spencer to share, and he doesn’t look like he wants to try.

“Ow,” Toshi complains, before he goes back to munching on spring rolls.
