I can’t believe these two are dancing around their feelings for each other. Toshi’s hesitant for some reason, and Echo’s picking up on that and playing it cooler than I think he would if Toshi felt more certain about their bond. I don’t think I can start something with any of them until they resolve the issue. Otherwise, my being added to this pack could make the whole thing so much worse.

This is my pack. It feels so weird to know that, to feel it.

We might not be official, but I’m already sure it’s something I want.

My encounters with men have been shallow and unsatisfying in the past, and I can’t go back to that. This is the other extreme, and I’m beyond ready for mates and everything that comes with having them.

More kids? Maybe. I could probably have one or two before my body decides I’m too old for a whole brood. God, it would feel so good to actually raise babies. I can’t help but smile at the thought of it.

The door opens to the hall, and Spencer walks in with a bag of desserts.

He comes over to the table and puts the bag down. “Cannoli’s were sold out, so I just got cake and ice cream.”

“Damn,” Toshi murmurs. “Oh, well, cake it is.”

“It’s kind of cold for ice cream,” Echo tells him.

“You mean you get cold just looking at it,” Spencer says, passing him a box. “I got you cake.”

Echo smiles. “How did you know?”

It’s cute how sweet Spencer is with him.

“Hey,” Toshi complains. “I thought you said you didn’t want anything.”

“He always says he doesn’t want anything,” Spencer says. “Then he changes his mind the second I come back with everyone else’s stuff. You should know that by now.”

Toshi shrugs, and Spencer thrusts a box at him. “Vegan, extra cream.”

“Thanks,” Toshi murmurs as he takes it.

“Sorbet wise, we have lemon and raspberry.”

He takes two paper bowls out and passes them to me.

“Ooh, raspberry, please.” I take the pink looking one and he sets the other down on the table.

The biggest box seems to be his. He passes out paper cutlery and then opens his own box and the lemon sorbet. We all sit to eat, and it’s quiet for about three minutes while everyone takes their first bites.

The sorbet is amazing. I eat it a little too fast and end up with brain freeze.

“Ow,” I complain, laughing when Spencer raises an eyebrow across the desk at me. “Brain freeze.”

I rub at my head a little. It passes quickly.

The guys take a bit longer to finish their cakes.

Spencer offers me a piece of his, and I shake my head.

“Thanks, but I’m pretty full already.”

“So, what were you guys doing while I was out?” Spencer asks.

“Not much,” Echo says, giving me a pointed look.

Right, yeah, I’m supposed to try my little zoning out trick in front of Spencer. Echo meant for me to do that without warning him, so I’ll have to wait until we’re standing around together.
