“Uh, yeah,” I start. “Betas don’t usually get fated mates. He was probably thinking it wasn’t possible. Then, when you guys never mentioned it again, he probably felt like he was going a little crazy, feeling something that you didn’t seem to feel back.”

“How the hell did we miss that?” Spencer asks.

“You could have talked to him,” I suggest, shrugging when he stares at me like I’ve grown two heads.

“We should have talked to him,” Echo agrees. “I tried. I’m just not used to pushing when someone feels uncomfortable. It makes me feel too bad.”

I nod slowly. I can understand that. He’s an Omega. He’s more sensitive than most. He feels what the people around him are feeling, and that’s what dictates how he responds.

“It doesn’t matter now,” I tell him. “As long as you show him how much you both want him as your mate, you have no idea how happy you’ll make him.”

“Where did you come from?” Spencer murmurs at me.

I smile. “Silver Lake. A boring little Beta exclusive town miles away from the city.”

“Small town girl meets big city pack,” Echo says. “Sparks are going to fly.”

“Oh, most definitely,” I agree, leaning in and kissing the mark on the right side of his throat.

He lets out a soft, needy sigh.

“Now, go claim Toshi before he wonders what we’re doing down here without him.”

I step back, breaking our embrace.

I pick up my purse from the chair where I left it, and Spencer raises an eyebrow at me.

“Where do you think you’re going?” he asks, in a low, sexy growl.

“Upstairs,” I tell him. “To wait for my turn.”

He pulls me to him by the front of my sweater.

“You’re supposed to prioritize Alphas when you court a pack,” he tells me.

I look up into his bright blue eyes. “Well, I never do what I’m supposed to do.”

But considering I’ve already kissed Toshi and Echo, it would be kind of unfair if I left him out.

Especially since he’s giving me the kind of look that comes before a seriously intense kiss.

“I’ll go warm Toshi up,” Echo murmurs behind us.

“Don’t claim him without me,” Spencer warns.

“I won’t.” Echo shoots me a grin. “I always do what I’m told. Alpha, or not.”

I can’t help smiling back at him. These next few days are going to be so much fun.

Spencer looks back at me, his hands moving up to cup my cheeks as he leans down and puts his lips on mine. It’s a much softer kiss than I expect. His skin barely brushes mine, the tip of his tongue lightly flicking over the seam of my lips before it’s gone, and he’s moving back, making me moan in longing.

Echo’s already gone when Spencer moves back, taking his hands off me.

“Get moving,” he tells me. “I’ll make up a bed for you when we get up there. You can touch yourself listening to Toshi being claimed. Maybe if you beg hard enough, we’ll let you in the room with us.”

He gives me a smirk, and I know he can tell the effect his commanding words are having on me.

I never really understood the appeal of Alphas until this moment.
