Chapter Thirteen

A small amount of sunlight sneaking through my curtain is all I see when I open my eyes to the sound of banging. I sit up quickly, searching for my phone only to remember I shut it off last night.

“Ms. Richards.” I hear Joe’s voice echo through my front door when I reach for the light switch. I’m still tying my robe when I open the door just enough to see him. “Ms. Richards. I’m here to take you to Mr. Deverick.”

“Tell him I’ve changed my mind.” I close the door quickly, turning the lock once again.

“Ma’am… he’s waiting in the limo for you. We both know if I don’t bring you out, he’ll be the next one knocking on your door.” Shit. I stop retreating to my bedroom and twirl around to once again unlock the door.

“Tell him I need an hour, then we can go over his contract.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“And Joe… please don’t call me ma’am.”

“I’m sorry… what would you prefer I call you?”

“Call me Cami.” I smile just before I close the door and freak out about having to face Damon in an hour. He’s relentless and I know he won’t leave all of this alone until he’s either made me insane enough to give in… which I was extremely close to doing last night.

He has a way of convincing me to do things I ordinarily wouldn’t even consider. Yet again, I find myself rushing around to get dressed for this man while he waits for me outside my apartment.

Most men aren’t this patient. Which is weird because he seems to be anything but patient with everything else.

How in the hell can I even consider facing him after what happened last night? “Oh please, the man runs a sex house.” I actually start talking to myself as I turn my phone on and begin to scrounge through my closet in search of something to wear. “I need to go shopping… this is ridiculous.” I slide the bulk of my close toward the front, making more room for me to see what’s deep in the back hiding. After a few hangers, I find a white sundress that’s going to be perfect with the pair of sandals I also grab before I jump in the shower.

No matter how this conversation will go, I know I want to look much more presentable than I did last night. I learned my lesson big time with that.

I’m still in the shower when I hear my phone vibrating. Reaching around the curtain, I consider not answering it when I see his number light up my screen, but out of sheer hope he’s simply calling to cancel this entire fiasco, I accept his call.

“So you’d like to start our training in the shower?” I step to the farthest edge of my shower to avoid the water.

“No.”

“I was just reminding you to pack any personal items you may want. You won’t need any clothes; I’ll be providing you with everything you’ll need.” I can only imagine what he’ll have me wearing.

“We still need to talk.”

“Would you like me to come up to your apartment?” I consider the alternative… me getting into his limo. His space, where he has the advantage.

“That would actually work best for me.”

“I’ll be up shortly.” I disconnect the call, this time not rushing to finish my shower, finding a little bit of peace knowing he’ll be waiting for me at the door. I brush my hair and slip on my robe before I open the door for him, even though I heard him knocking the second I turned the water off.

“That’s the last time I wait for you. From now on you’re not allowed to lock any doors that will keep me from getting to you.” He walks past me with perfect posture in another dark like he owns the place. “If you want to spend anytime at your house in the next few weeks, I’ll need a key.”

“Again, you assume that I’m saying yes.”

“You haven’t said no.”

“Actually, yes I have… multiple times, but you seem to only hear what you want to hear.” He follows me into my bedroom as I grab the dress and sandals and close the bathroom door to get dressed. I lock the door and he of course tests the knob shortly after I do.

“Camille. Will you always be this rebellious?”

I slide the dress over my head and position my boobs just right before I respond. “Possibly. Can you handle that?” Looking in the mirror, I listen for his reply and start to put my makeup on.

“I guess that’s something we’ll have to work through. You know it would be much easier on both of us if you’d cut all of that out so we could get straight to all the good stuff.”

“Good stuff, huh.”
