The manager wrings us up and asks where we want this stuff delivered. I tell him Gabe’s penthouse address and hand over the black card Gabe had given me to use.

By the time we are done, a man is practically running into the store breathing hard like he raced all the way here. He is dressed as good as Greg is, so he should have no problem working in a store like this. Especially if he has an eye like Greg’s.

“Oh, thank god you are still here,” the man says.

Greg grabs his arm and pulls him over to us. “Ladies, this is Quinn; my roommate and bestie. Quinn, these are our new besties.”

Quinn doesn’t even look shocked at his words. He must be used to Greg pulling him into random situations like this.

“Nice to meet you,” he says. His voice is soft and low. It’s almost calm and soothing.

“You aren’t even going to question the fact that he called us his besties?” Christina asks, looking at him in surprise.

Quinn grins. “This guy has good taste in people. After all, he picked me as a best friend,” he says while gesturing to himself.

I can’t help but smile at his words. “Alright. I think you’ll do,” I tell him.

When we turn back to the manager, Quinn gets a professional look on his face and hands him a resume. The manager scans it and looks down at it with a raised eyebrow.

“You seem to have done this type of work before,” the guy says.

Quinn talks about his experience and, honestly, I drown them out but, by the time they are done talking, Quinn had gotten the job and was starting on Monday.

Which means we were celebrating after this.

Once everything was paid for and delivery was confirmed, we head out to a bar and grill for food and drinks. Now that shopping is over, I am starving.

This day was shaping up to be really good. I had also made two new friends. They seemed like genuine people; just the kind of people I need in my life.

Something was telling me that I could trust them.

Maybe, this time, I could listen to my gut.

Gabe

It took me a while to feel like I wasn’t dying. By the time I felt somewhat normal, I was ready to do something. I know Aubrey would be out for hours; shopping took a long fucking time.

I knew I couldn’t work, since everyone was surprisingly on shift today. When I called Chase, Nolan, Theo, and Dylan over, they sounded a lot better than I did.

“How are you not hungover?” I ask Chase when they walk in the door.

“I hardly ever get hungover,” he says, waving his hand dismissively.

“Where’s sis?” Nolan says after taking a seat on the couch.

“She’s with Christina. They are shopping for the charity event next week,” I tell them.

The elevator dings and I look over, but my shoulders drop when I see it’s only Bill.

“I’m back,” he says with a grin.

“What are we going to do today since you aren’t attached to my sister?” Dylan says.

“I was thinking maybe we could get my boat ready so I can take Aubrey and Christina out tomorrow before Christina leaves,” I tell them.

I say boat, but what I mean is yacht. It’s a decent size but needs to be stocked up. I could hire someone to get the shit I need, but some things I like doing myself. The Kingsleys are all the same way. It takes a few hours to drive there, since it’s still pretty cold here. During the cold months, we like to have our boats transported south so that we can still enjoy the nice weather on the yacht. It’s something we all never wanted to give up.

We head out and pick up what I think we will need for a day on the water tomorrow. We spend a lot of the time talking, but eventually it gets done.
