“I was just joking, mom,” he says, rubbing the back of his neck.

“That’s what I thought,” my mom replies before going back to helping me with breakfast.

“Don’t worry about him. He’s still feeling salty because he got turned down,” Dylan says laughing.

The room goes silent, and we all turn to Chase who has a blush on his cheeks.

“You got turned down?” Theo asks in a shocked tone.

“I did not! She just didn’t understand what I was asking,” Chase says, trying to defend himself.

Dylan clutches his stomach laughing. “Bro, you literally said “how about we go out on a date, and I take you our for dinner.”

“Say it isn’t so,” I whisper in disbelief.

“Okay, so maybe she didn’t believe me,” Chase says.

“It’s about time,” Nolan says grinning.

I nod my head in agreement. That is true. I don’t think Chase has ever been turned down before.

When I look at my brother, I can tell the woman just issued a challenge. He’s not going to give up until he gets that date from this mystery woman.

Looks like we are in for more entertainment.

Things are about to get crazy around here.

I am here and ready for it all.

I look over to Gabe, and he grins with a wink at me.

I’m lucky to have him by my side as things start to get interesting.

There is no one else I’d rather have with me.

Loving Gabe turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.

Epilogue

Gabe

Three months later…

I don’t think I have ever been more nervous for anything in my life. I know Aubrey loves me, and we always talk about forever, but there is just still something nerve wracking about asking the woman you love to marry you.

Last week, I had gotten her father and brothers’ permission to ask her to marry me, but they all just thought it was ridiculous that I was trying to get their blessing because they already knew this day was coming.

That didn’t stop them from giving me a hard time, but I didn’t expect anything less from the Kingsley men.

I planned a romantic dinner for us. I had food catered to our place and set up dinner out on our balcony since it’s overlooking the city.

Her friend Christina has kept her busy this afternoon and evening while I got everything set up.

When Aubrey walks through the door, my mouth goes dry at the sight of her.

She’s wearing a light blue dress that goes just past her knees, and her hair and makeup are all done up.

She stops when she sees me and a small smile comes to her face. “I had wondered why Christina got me all dolled up.”
