Dad was about to find that out.

I hit the bottom step just as he snarled. He grabbed the table in the far corner and threw it over, sending the contents toppling to the floor. Glass shattered and papers scattered across the floor.

One paper glided across the concrete and landed on my sneaker. I looked down at it as I exhaled. It was the purchase order that had the details of everything we had bought. Or rather, everything Lincoln had taken.

Dad punched the cinder blocks, and his knuckles came back bloodied, which he quickly cured by shifting his hand to a wolf’s paw and then back again.

Mikey thundered down the stairs. “The house is empty. He’s not here.”

My dad motioned to the flipped-over table. “The wolfsbane is gone.”

He scrubbed a hand over his face as he shook his head. “It’s all gone. Every last bit of it. I knew something was wrong when he called earlier today.”

He kicked the overturned table, sending it skittering over the floor. “We should have come and picked up the supplies as soon as he said it was in.”

Mikey glanced around the room. “Who would want it? Are you sure it’s gone?”

I narrowed my eyes and frowned at my brother. “Who do you think took it?”

Mikey’s face scrunched up like he’d taken a bite out of something sour. “Lincoln? Sloane? How would they even know to come here?”

A tick formed in my dad’s jaw, and red tinged his cheeks. “That’s a good question, son!”

Sweat beaded my brow as my pulse kicked up a notch, and I swallowed. “Lincoln was privy to a lot of information. Randy wasn’t a secret to him.”

The vein in my father’s temple throbbed. “No. Randy wasn’t a secret, but this large stash was.”

He shot an accusatory glare at me. “How did he know to come here today, of all days?”

My father pointed at the ground as he took slow, calculated steps toward me. “This was the biggest stash Randy has ever procured for us.”

I shrugged and stood my ground, my heart beating so hard that I was afraid both my dad and Mikey could hear it.

Mikey’s lip curled up in disgust as he circled around me. “Did you tell him?”

I chuckled as I looked at my brother. “Me?”

Mikey jabbed a finger into my chest. “Yeah. You.”

Dad tucked his hands behind his back and watched with narrowed eyes. A small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth like he was amused by this.

Mikey jammed his finger into my chest like the tip was a knife, right over my heart. “You and Lincoln have always been close. Disgustingly so. Maybe you’ve been helping him this whole time, Sawyer.”

I gritted my teeth. My nostrils flared. Luna, he was so close to the truth.

He doesn’t know that! Keep your cool.

“Lincoln is a traitor. He betrayed all of us. I might have been close to him, but the moment he turned his back, that was the end of our relationship. He’s not my brother.” A bead of sweat trickled down my back, and I shifted my feet.

Mikey shoved me hard enough to make me step back. “You know something. You’re behind this.”

I fisted my hands at my sides, bit the inside of my cheek, and forced my gaze to stay on my brother and father, when all I really wanted to do was calculate my best route of escape. “I haven’t spoken to Lincoln since he escaped.”

Mikey wagged his finger in my face. “Ah, since he escaped, huh?”

I chuckled. Sometimes he made things too easy. “Well, yeah. I was questioning him while he was a prisoner.”

Mikey’s face fell, and he looked back to our father, who just stood there.
