“Maybe we can get her to come home for dinner tonight.”

“Good idea. So when is Landon coming by?”

“Anytime now—”

There’s a knock on the door.

Lennox eyebrows raise and she grins. “Ooohhh, who could that be?”

I give her my best you’re ridiculous look as I stand up and walk over to the door.

“Get that money girl. Get it!” Len cat calls.

I ignore her and open the door. Landon stands there, looking like his usual fine self. Gray sweatpants hang low on his lean hips and a plain black t-shirt hugs his muscular torso. I don’t let my eyes linger, not wanting him to enjoy the attention, which I know he already is with the stupid smirk on his face.

“Morning ladies. Ready to hit the mall?”

“Ready to fork over some cold hard cash?” Len chimes in as she joins us in the living room.

“Hey buddy ol’ pal. Who said this was any of your business?” The smile on his face shows he’s joking and Len knows it by the way she reacts by lightly jabbing him in the shoulder while laughing.

The two of them act like brother and sister since Landon helped Lennox out when she was down and honestly, it’s amusing to watch.

“It became my business when Everleigh asked me to help her shop.”

“Oh, shit. What have I got myself into?”

“A lot of trouble. Right, Ev?”

I nod. “Yep. So hand it over. We need to get going.”

“Yes.” Lennox agrees. “There’s multiple layers we need.”

“Multiple layers?” Landon groans.

Len and I grin at one another. This is fun.

“You know we went over this. Shoes, purse, jewelry, and the evening jacket.” I tick each item off using my fingers.

“Let’s not forget underneath the dress.” Len looks between us with a shit eating grin on her face.

Landon looks at me and I shrug. “She’s the boss.”

“Oh, really?” He shakes his head as he pulls his wallet out from his back pocket. “Don’t go too crazy.” He hands me his credit card.

“Damn, you got the plastic, Ev!” Lennox squeals.

Landon puts his arm around Len’s shoulder. “I’m trusting you to keep Ev in check.”

“You don’t trust me?” I ask while batting my eyelashes.

Landon smirks. “Len has a soft spot for me. You? I’m not so sure.”

“Ha! A soft spot. Nice one.” Len says.

“Len will do what I want. And you’re right, I don’t have a soft spot for you, and I never will.”

He places his free hand over his heart and acts like he’s in pain. “Ouch. You wound me, Ev.”
