“Yes it is. The ones making it more complicated are you and him. Get out of your own way and it’ll happen.”
As I lay in bed later that night, my mind won’t let me sleep.
Is Len right? Should I admit to myself what I’ve been denying?
I’m in love with Landon.
Wait, did I actually just say that?
I’m in love with Landon.
I’m in love with Landon.
I can’t wait any longer to tell him.
I throw my comforter to the side, slide on my slippers, and run out of my apartment and up to Landon’s in only my pjs. I don’t care. I want to shout it from the rooftops.
I’M IN LOVE WITH LANDON!
I knock on his door and wait. Holden opens the door, surprised to see me. “Hey, Ev.”
“Is Landon here?”
“No, sorry. He went out earlier. I can tell him you swung by.”
“No, that’s okay. Thanks anyways. Sorry to bug you.”
“It’s all good.”
I turn to go.
“Ev.” Holden says and I stop.
“He’s on the same page as you. Just give him time. He’s a little freaked out. But he’ll come around.”
I smile at him from over my shoulder. “Thanks Holden. Goodnight.”
“Night.”
I shuffle back downstairs. Holden’s words were comforting but I can’t help but feel disappointed he wasn’t home. Is he out hooking up with some girl because we aren’t anymore?
The thought makes me sick. He wouldn’t would he?
As I round the corner to my apartment, I look up and see Landon.
He’s standing in front of my door, a bag in one hand.
“Landon?” I ask and his head snaps my way.
“Ev, there you are. You weren’t answering my texts, I thought you might’ve gone to bed but I decided to check. I tried knocking but no one answered but now here you are and—” He rambles on and I place a finger on his lips.
“Shh. Just kiss me you idiot.”
Landon doesn’t hesitate. He kisses me with so much intensity, my knees go weak.
“I love you, Everleigh. I don’t care about the virgin bullshit, I deserved it. I haven’t slept with anyone since we hooked up at your cousin’s wedding. Only you, Pookie. The last time I tried I couldn’t even get my dick up.”
I laugh. “Good. Serves you right. I love you too, Landon. I’ve loved you for months now. I didn’t want to admit it.”
