“Okay. You go first.”
“My favorite color is blue.”
“Mine is black. Favorite food?”
“Pizza. You?” Rhett answers.
“Hmm. Probably chocolate.”
“Favorite movie?”
“I hate this one because I have too many favorites. Anything horror done well is a top for me.”
“Horror?” Rhett makes a face and tries to quickly play it off, but I see it.
“Yes, you chicken butt.”
“I am not a chicken butt.”
“I remember how you were on Halloween. Mr. jumpy policeman.”
Rhett’s mouth drops open and he lets out a shocked laugh. “I was not jumpy.”
“Okay, fine. When we get to the motel later, we’re renting one.”
Now he blanches. “Uh…”
“What’s wrong?” I ask sweetly.
“Nothing. I’m good. Nothing too gory, alright?”
“Fine, fine. What movies do you like to watch?”
“Anything funny. Sometimes a chick flick here and there.”
I burst into laughter.
“What? They’re cute. And funny. Most of the time.”
“In small doses, maybe. I prefer horror mostly. But I do sneak in a romance sometimes.”
“Aha! See, chick flicks are the best.”
“Not just chick flicks. The ones with a good story, more like a drama. Oh and of course mysteries. I love a good mystery, especially in a book.”
“You like to read?” Rhett asks.
“Yes. Whenever I can fit in the time to, which isn’t often, but I try. Psychological thrillers and mysteries are my favorites.”
“I love learning all this stuff about you.” Rhett smiles at me, and I ignore the tingles lighting off like fireworks inside my bloodstream.
He’s just being nice.
He’s just being nice. Like he always is.
“Do you read?” I ask him.
“Yes, sometimes. Mainly graphic novels, though. I like the visuals from the pictures.”
