“You can check out the corkboard in the Feed Store. A lot of people post they’re looking for work on it.”

“I will definitely check that out.”

As they drove to the restaurant, neither spoke. Addison watched the scenery fly by as she inhaled Cody’s aftershave. He smelled so good!

“So, were you able to get us in or did you have to call Gray?”

“I called Gray,” Cody said with a smirk.

When he drove into the parking lot, he slowed to find a spot to park. Addison sat up to look too, but the lot was full.

“I told you it gets packed.”

“Tell me if you see a spot.” Cody drove along slowly hoping someone would leave soon.

“There.” Addison pointed to a car backing out.

“Perfect.” He drove into the spot after the car drove off and shut the truck off. “Let’s go, darlin’. The smells are driving me crazy.”

“The food is amazing. I can’t wait for you to try it.”

“I can’t either.” He opened his door, stepped out, and strode around the truck, then opened her door, and helped her out. He kept her hand in his as they walked to the doors.

He pulled one open for her, and nodded for her to enter, then he followed her to where a woman stood behind a podium.

“Hello, welcome to the Hartland restaurant. Do you have a reservation?”

“Yes, ma’am. For Haines.”

He watched her scan the computer then picked up menus.

“Please follow me. Is a booth, okay?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

She led them to a booth, waited for them to sit, then handed them menus.

“Your server will be right with you. What can I get you to drink?”

“Addison?”

“A Chardonnay, please.”

“Sir?”

“A beer is fine. Whatever’s on tap.”

“All right. I’ll be right back with those.” She smiled at Cody, then walked to the bar.

“I think you have a fan.” Addison smiled.

“You?” Cody grinned.

“I’m not sure yet.”

“Ouch. What did I do to you?”

Addison laughed and he loved the sound of it.
