Addison placed her hand on his chest, and he opened his eyes to look at her.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

She nodded. “Yeah, I’m hungry again.”

“Me too. Can’t believe we’re already craving more food after just eating.”

“It’s like spaghetti is the Chinese food of Italian cuisine. You’re hungry again in no time.”

“Well, it hasn’t been an hour yet, but I don’t mind. Let’s eat.”

“I want to take a shower first. But if you’re hungry, go ahead and eat.”

“A shower sounds good to me too.”

She grinned. “Follow me, cowboy.”

Later, they snuggled on the bed while watching TV. His arms were wrapped around her as she rested her head on his chest. It felt so natural and right to her, but she knew she needed to keep her heart guarded. She wanted this relationship to turn into something more, but was he on the same page? Did he still have lingering feelings for Gwyn? After all, he had once wanted to marry her.

The last thing Addison needed was to fall for someone who was still hung up on their ex-lover. Even though Cody said it was over with Gwyn, how could she be sure he didn’t still have feelings for the woman he wanted to spend his life with? She knew firsthand how much it hurt to be left behind by someone you loved. It had taken her a long time to move on from Stuart leaving her, even though it wasn’t by his own choice. He wasn’t even around for her to try and get back into her life, but Gwyn was. And if Gwyn decided she wanted Cody back, how far would she go to make it happen? Could Addison end up getting pushed away so that Cody could be with Gwyn again? She hoped not, but she also knew they’d have to talk about it. She didn’t need the pain of losing someone again. She sat up and looked at him.

“How about something to drink?”

“I’d love a beer.”

“Okay, I’ll be right back.” She got out of bed, pulled on her panties, and bra, then after glancing over her shoulder with a smile, left the room.

“If you’re trying to look sexy, you succeeded,” he called out to her as she walked along the hallway, making her grin.

After getting his beer and herself a glass of wine, she headed back to the room. When she entered the room, she tripped over Lolli, stumbled forward and hit the floor, dropping the drinks, making the glass shatter. She heard Cody jump out of the bed, then he was beside her.

“Are you alright?”

Addison looked at him and burst out laughing.

“So much for trying to look sexy.” She howled with laughter, and he joined in. She wiped tears from her eyes as they both laughed.

He helped her up, hugged her, and kissed the top of her head.

“I didn’t want a beer anyway,” he said with a chuckle.

“Good thing. That was the last one.”

They cleaned up the mess, got back into bed, and fell asleep.

The following day, they went horseback riding again. She knew she had to keep doing it because if she didn’t and then got back to it, her muscles would hate her for it. She still got a little sore. Who knew riding a horse could make almost every muscle in your body cry out for relief?

After returning from their ride, they spent the day in Clifton, going through shops. She showed Cody her hometown, and he seemed to love it. She was so happy when he took her hand and held onto it as they walked along the sidewalk. It was a beautiful day, and she was enjoying herself. As long as she kept Gwyn from her thoughts, she’d be fine.

Saturday morning, after opening, she stood behind the counter filling prescriptions when the bell above the door chimed. She glanced up and smiled.

“Hi, Siobhan.”

“Hey, Addison.”

“What can I help you with?”
