“How are you doing, Ms. Minnie?” Addison asked cheerfully.

Minnie Dover’s face lit up with a smile. “I’m fine, Addie. How about yourself?”

“I’m wonderful, thank you for asking. I’ll get this filled for you right away. Please have a seat.”

“I think I’ll take a look around first. You always have such pretty things,” Minnie said as she wandered through the store.

“Thank you,” Addison replied with a smile, watching Minnie admire the Halloween decorations that adorned the shelves of the store. In addition to over-the-counter medicines, Addison also sold various gifts including candles, jewelry, clothing, and windchimes.

After filling Minnie’s prescription, Addison caught her attention and assisted her at the counter. She couldn’t help but appreciate how sweet Minnie was. She owned an antique store and also sold beautiful dollhouses, something Addison had always wanted since she was a little girl but never got.

As she finished helping another customer, Addison took a deep breath every time the doorbell chimed, praying that it wasn’t Gwyn or that man. That woman seemed to always bring trouble and Addison wanted nothing to do with her.

When her phone buzzed in her pocket, she glanced at it to see Cody’s name on the screen. She informed Kinley that she would be taking the call in her office.

“Hi,” Addison answered as she closed the door to her office and sat down behind her desk.

“I found her and had a talk with her. She’s in a hotel in Hartland. I threatened to report her for stalking, although I’m not sure if it would actually work. But she believed me, so hopefully she’ll leave now. It’s really snowing heavily out there. She needs to go before she gets stuck here.”

“I agree. Did she mention the man at all?”

“No, but I know he’s the private investigator she hired. Why else would she be with him? He’s definitely not her type.”

“I don’t want either of them near me or my store. Every time the bell rings, I get anxious.”

“I don’t think she’ll bother you anymore. She knows I’m serious about her leaving us alone.”

“Good. Did you make reservations for us?”

“Gray did. Is it okay if he and Vivian join us?”

“Of course, I’d love that.”

“Great. Alright, sweetheart, I’m heading home now. I have a lot to do this afternoon, a bunch of phone calls to make. I’ll talk to you later.”

“Talk soon,” she said before ending the call and returning to the counter.

Between filling prescriptions and assisting customers, she couldn’t help but keep glancing toward the door. The snow was falling so thickly that it obscured her view of the building across the street from the pharmacy.

“I hope this isn’t sticking,” she said to Kinley.

“Me too.”

“So, is everything okay with Cody and that woman?”

Addison chuckled. “I think so. He found her at the hotel in Hartland and told her to leave us alone and leave town, or he’d report her for stalking. I don’t know if he could actually do it, but she seemed to believe him. Maybe she’ll finally back off now. I hate confrontations.”

“Me too. You try not to lose your temper and say what you really want to, but it can be hard sometimes.”

“We deal with difficult customers here too. Luckily, most of them are pleasant.”

“If this snow doesn’t let up, we may have to close early. I hate driving in this weather.”

“I do too. Let’s see how it is in an hour before we decide.”

“That sounds good. Oh, something is coming through the fax machine. I’ll go check.”

Addison nodded but quickly turned around when she heard Kinley gasp while looking at a sheet of paper. She walked over to her.
