“Don’t worry, we’ve been married so long that he knows he has nothing to worry about.”

Shaking her head, Addison repeated, “I’ll be right back,” before walking toward the living room.

Levi took his coffee from her, and she took a seat next to Cody on the couch.

“How’s the game going?”

“Not great.”

“Looks like your team is losing.”

“For now.” He grinned at her and winked.

“Dinner will be ready soon. I hope Kinley can still make it.”

“The roads are treacherous, sweetheart. But if she can, I’m sure she will. It would be a shame for you two not to spend the day together since you always do.”

“Our parents live in different states, so we only had each other after Stuart died. I’m happy your men were able to travel home for the holiday though.”

“Yeah, me too. Levi and I will take care of things at the ranch until they get back.”

“I should probably get back to the kitchen. The turkey should be done soon. Can one of you help carry it to the table?”

Cody reached out and caressed her neck before kissing her cheek.

“Just let us know.”

She nodded and got up, heading back to the kitchen. Just as she arrived, there was a knock on the door.

“I hope that’s Kinley.” She hurried over and opened the door, smiling when she saw her friend. She pulled her inside and gave her a hug. “Let me take your coat and hat.”

“I think I’ll keep them on. It’s freezing out there,” Kinley said through chattering teeth.

“I’m so glad you made it. Are the roads really bad?”

“Yes,” Kinley replied as she hung up her coat and hat.

“If you need to stay here tonight, we have plenty of space.”

“That’s very kind of you. I might just take you up on that—”

Kinley’s words suddenly cut off, causing her to glance at her friend who was now staring intently at the living room doorway. Addison followed her gaze and couldn’t help but grin when she saw Levi walking into the kitchen. His eyes locked with Kinley’s, and he paused.

“Levi, this is my best friend, Kinley Wilson. Kinley, this is Levi Thomas. He’s in charge of the ranch.”

Levi gave a quick nod to Kinley. “Ma’am.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Levi.”

“You too.” Without another word, he made his way to the sink, placed his empty cup inside, cast a glance at Kinley, and then exited the room.

Addison turned to her friend who was now studying her with narrowed eyes.

“What?” she whispered.

“You didn’t tell me he was going to be here,” Kinley hissed back.

“I only found out this morning from Cody. He doesn’t have any family and we didn’t want him to spend the holiday alone.”
