By the time we make it out of the front door, three big fuckers are standing outside their vehicles. I have no idea how in the hell these guys could possibly be related to that tiny woman. If it wasn’t for the dark hair and caramel-colored skin, I wouldn’t think they were related at all because of the sheer size of them.

“Where the fuck is our sister?” asshole number one growls out. He must be the guy in charge, and at second glance I see a little grey at his temples, so he must be the eldest. Prez steps forward in front of the trio with me to his left and Rider to his right.

“We caught your sister trespassing on our land tonight. This was after hacking into our monitors and then disarming our alarms. We have women and children here. We can’t have anyone putting them in danger,” Prez grits out. I watch their expressions, and I see a look pass quickly over their faces. Interesting. Much like their sister, they seem to not like the idea of people in danger or being hurt. The brother to the left of the main guy clears his throat.

“Look, we don’t want anyone in danger. I’m Tav, these are my brothers August -” he indicates the oldest looking brother “-and Jules” his brother on the other side. I note this one, Tav seems to be the most laid-back of the three.

“Do you mind if we come in to talk? And maybe check on our sister? We know Tuesday can be a bit of a handful-” one brother snorts and I hear the other mumble “pain in the ass,”

“- but she means well” He looks at me with eyes similar to his sister, but way, way less hot. I look toward my brother and Prez before giving a slight nod. Hell, they seem like ok guys and they’re only here to check on their sister. I give them a chin lift to follow me inside, then pull up a seat at one of the long tables we have in the main room. Prez sits to my left with Rider on the other side whilst they arrange themselves across from us. August is in the middle, and Tav and Jules are on either side.

I clear my throat “So, you can start by telling us why the hell your sister was in our compound in the first place,” I watch the brothers all share a glance before August says,

“I’m guessing she’s not the only person you caught on your compound tonight?”

I glance at Prez, who gives him a curt nod. I hear them all curse under their breaths before August speaks again.

“Look, our sister is…special. Not in an ‘all baby sisters are special way’. But in a ‘special set of skills’ type of way.” He looks each of us in the eye for a moment.

I speak up. “Listen, man, you’re not really telling us anything we couldn’t figure out for ourselves,” Tav nods before continuing

“Our baby sister is a hacker. Went to school for computer science and uses her powers during the day in our security company. During the night hours, though, her primary hobby for the past 17 years has been hunting down people who hurt others and meting out her own form of justice, so to speak.” I whip my head towards Prez and Rider, each of us slightly baffled, before Prez snorts out.

“Her own form of justice? By what? Talking them to death? Stop bullshitting”. Jules shares a look with his brothers before turning his cold eyes on us. Of the three, he seems the most reserved and the least trustworthy.

“Well, boys, looks like these fuckers don’t believe us. Maybe they need a little show and tell.” His brothers both nod in unison.

“Let my sister interrogate your prisoner. She’ll get all the info she needs as to why he was here at your compound and she gets what she’s after. It’s really a win-win situation for us. The only stipulation is that we are there with her the whole time and we clean up.”

These guys look serious and judging by the looks on my brother’s faces, they weren’t exactly expecting that from them. Prez and I share a look and I just know he’s going to go along with their plan. He rubs his hand down his beard once more before nodding. “OK. Let’s see what your wee sister can do then, huh? Rhodie, go get Tuesday and bring her and these boys to the shed. Let’s see what everyone is about.” He stands and stomps off with Rider. I see him shoulder-tap a couple of the other guys on the way out.

“Follow me then. Let’s get this over with. "

Chapter 2

Tuesday

I’ve been moving around the room cataloging things I can see, smell and hear. The room is tidy and not sex-pit-looking at all. The sheets smell like washing powder and even though the furniture is a little dated, I’m sure it serves its purpose. I can hear the deadbolt sliding on the other side of the door, so I stand at the end of the bed and wait.

The door slowly opens, and I can see Rhodie’s massive body blocking the light from the hall

“Come on Tiny, looks like you get to interrogate your man” I do a bit of a wiggle to celebrate and when I look up, I see Rhodie’s eyebrows are up by his hairline. He turns without a word and I follow his giant bulk down the hall until we come to a door. I’m guessing it leads to a staircase and a basement because that’s where people always think about interrogating people. However, when Rhodie throws the door open, I see it leads outside. I trot after him as his legs are so much longer than mine. He’s not saying anything and frankly, I’m not bothered. I’m vibrating with excitement that I finally get to come face to face with the man who took my parents.

I’ve been building up to this moment for years and pictured it in my mind for a long time, but now that it’s here, there are just so many ways I can go about this. Rhodie stops in front of a shed and turns to me.

“You better be ready for this, little lady. It ain’t for the faint of heart. “

I reach up and slap my hand on his gigantic, hard shoulder

“No need to worry about me buddy, you just worry about yourself” Rhodie lets out a little snort and shakes his head before throwing the door open, gesturing me to walk in. Everyone in the room turns to look at me and I see my brothers all lined up, arms crossed in front of their chests.

“Dammit! You got here a lot faster than I expected. You can fuck right off if you think you’re taking me home.” I growl at them. August shakes his head at me while Tav smirks.

“Little sis, it looks like it’s your lucky day. The President here has agreed that you can interrogate their prisoner,” August says before Tav breaks in.

“Yeah Dayz, these boys don’t seem to think you have what it takes” I turn to look at all the men in the room. All are leaning along the walls, with expressions that I guess probably show skepticism. I’m not sure, that was never one of the emotions on the flashcards my mom used to teach me. Either way, they seem to be smirking at me or just plain shaking their heads.

I square my shoulders before turning to my brothers. “What was the deal?”
