“She said the name of the brewery, you need to get there now! Declan and I are on our way.” I pulled up the name in my phone - it was a few blocks away. She was probably there acting recklessly because of me. A pang of guilt shot through me. I had to get to her - if she was really going into heat, she was prey for any alphas nearby. I covered my nose, the scent of my mate tearing my heart out. “Anyone here seen an omega who looks like a beta? She’s in trouble - a group of alphas is bothering her.” One of the couples sitting at a table stared at me with wide eyes.
“We thought she was with them! They went that way.” They pointed down the street and I had to tear myself away from the railing where I smelled my mate. Chapter 29
Aiden
Dominic’s phone GPS gave us a location, but nothing else. I broke several traffic laws speeding to get to where he was. My heart was racing as I tried to steady myself for what we would find. All I had heard when I answered the phone was the loud noises of a bar and the voices of several alphas before Piper spoke. “I don’t want to have my heat in the middle of Brook’s Brewery. Please, I can’t do this. I’m not ready. Not at Brook’s Brewery.” I yelled, screamed to get her attention through the phone before realizing my little omega had been trying to send me a message. I yelled at Declan, halfway out the door before he ran after me.
“Brook’s Brewery - Piper’s there. She’s in trouble, going into heat. Expect alphas.” I called Dominic, knowing he might be able to reach her sooner. We were close by now, and I pulled up to a horrific scene. Dominic was holding off three alphas while a beta was closing in on Piper, who was crouching by a wall in the alley. I’d never seen Dominic look so feral - his face was bloodied and his clothes were torn, but he was throwing blows and kicking in faces as we pulled up on the curb. He had been holding his own against these other alphas and managing to somehow stay upright. The other alphas saw us as we flew out, ready to fight to the death. They looked at each other for a moment, then decided to bail. Their beta ran off as Dominic straggled over, reaching down to gather Piper up.
As I approached to help, an overwhelming scent hit me and I immediately knew two things. One was that Piper was in her real heat, and two - she was also our fated mate. Dominic brought her to me, curled up in his arms, his voice breaking as he spoke. “Our mate. Our mate.” I grabbed Piper, alarmed at both of their states. Piper was in heat and it wouldn’t be long before I lost my mind in a rut. Dominic needed medical help immediately. I turned to Declan and shouted out orders.
“Doctor. Now. We need her home.” I tore my shirt off and bundled it to cover my nose as we brought Piper into the car and helped Dominic in. Declan, our reliable, perfect beta, called the hospital for Piper’s doctor.
“Yes, we have an emergency. Piper’s going into heat, and one of our alphas was assaulted. We need medical assistance now.” He spoke while I drove, my control slipping as each second passed. Dominic was stroking her hair while she gripped him and whined, curled into a ball as she shook. She needed us. Declan finally finished the call and turned to speak.
“We are the only approved pack on her list for assisting through a heat. Piper, are you okay?” She managed to look up and whined again, causing my cock to spring to life.
“I need…” He climbed into the back seat to sit with her, taking over for Dominic while he leaned back. I didn’t need to see the details to know he had been beaten badly. He still held his hand on her arm, staying in contact with her.
“What do you need, omega?” Declan’s soothing voice calmed her down a bit.
“My alphas.”
I was lucky that we were almost home, because those words nearly made me lose control and pull the car over to help her through her heat right there in the street. I held myself together for another few minutes until I got her to our place. I parked sideways on the lawn and we threw the doors open, Declan now carrying Piper while I helped Dominic through the door. He was limping and I was worried he was going to be out for the count when it came to Piper’s heat.
“Our mate. Aiden, I messed up. I don’t deserve her.” His moans were nearly unintelligible and I dragged him inside, setting him on a chair while I grabbed ice and a cloth for him.
“Stop that. I know she’s our mate - I finally smell her scent in its entirety. You were right. Our mate was out there - right under our noses.” I dabbed at the blood on his face. “Medics will arrive soon. You need to patch yourself up. When you can, come join us to take care of our girl.” He nodded and held the cloth to his head while I left to go find Piper and Declan. I sprinted up to the nesting room, where he was petting her hair and soothing her. She looked up at me and whined before wincing and clutching her abdomen.
“It hurts, alpha!” I knelt down, cupping her face.
“I know Piper. We’ll make you feel better. Is that okay with you?” I still wanted her to have a choice - it was almost just taken from her by a pack of monsters.
She nodded at me and reached out. “I need you. I missed you. I love you.” Her words were music to my ears, but I tried not to read too much into the love part. I was used to omegas saying all kinds of things in the throes of their heat.
“Is it alright if I take these off?” I reached for her jeans, and she nodded at me and looked around.
“Dominic?” She asked, and I helped her out of the rest of her clothes.
“He needs to get cleaned up, then he’ll be right here. Shhhh. You’re safe now.” I rumbled deep in my chest and held her to me, her body now bare. I felt her heart rate stabilize as I held her and purred while Declan ran his hands up and down her back. I remembered what her doctor had told me when we registered to be her emergency pack if her heat hit. Since she came into her designation at a late age, her first heat would be incredibly strong and might last days longer than an average heat. Luckily we had prepared for that with a mini fridge and food stockpiled nearby. I looked down at her angel face, in awe that this woman had been our mate this whole time. Her faint scent when we first met was intriguing, and her perfume at the cafe was only partially developed. Now that her full scent was here, there was no denying it. She was ours. I lay her back on the nest of blankets and pillows and looked at her.
“Alright Piper, we’re going to help you make it through your first heat.”

Piper
I was near delirious with need. Everything had happened so fast - my heat was triggered, and the alphas had caught me and nearly taken me there in the alley.
