“More!” I gasped as he worked his fingers inside me. Cy was watching with an entranced look on his face while he ran one hand over my body and kept his other on Jameson’s member. I felt the warm touch as he ran his hand across my neck, down to pinch and caress each of my nipples in turn, and down further until he was honing in on my clit. I’ve never felt something like it before. I had Cy rubbing me on the outside with Jameson's skilled fingers pulsing against me from the inside while both of them stroked each other. The visuals and the sensations combined pushed me over the edge again, and I closed my eyes and pushed my head back against the bed as I felt myself clamp down and come again. The two alphas didn’t stop playing with me as I bucked against them, but I heard both of them grunt and pant as I felt warm liquid fall on me. I opened my eyes to see both of them coming, their eyes locked on me like their hands were locked on each other.

It took a minute before anyone spoke again, all of us catching our breath and savoring the pleasure of what had just happened. Finally they both collapsed onto the bed on either side of me, wrapping me up in their arms until I was in a warm cuddle. I felt like falling asleep, my eyes heavy as they lay with me. “The muffins!” I murmured as Jameson shushed me. “Don’t worry kitten. I took them out of the oven earlier when the timer went off. You were a bit distracted with Cy.” I nodded, and it didn’t take too long before I let the drowsiness carry me away into a well-needed nap. The last thing I remember is Cy smoothing my damp hair back from my forehead and giving me a gentle kiss on the top of my head while he murmured to his pack mate. “I’m starting to think our mission was far from a failure.”

Chapter 41

Maddox

Any day now, Bella was going to go into heat. I could tell it was close by how on edge my pack was acting, if the heady scent of Bella’s perfume wasn’t already a clear enough sign. Despite my lack of experience with omegas, I was beginning to understand why it was so imperative for them to be cared for and kept in a nest during this time. Her scent was becoming unbearably addictive, and the pack was straining to stay in control of their alpha instincts. They had all gone off their suppressants to help Bella through the heat, and I could tell that despite their self control, they were struggling. Jameson and Cy were staying close to her all the time, while Kian had locked himself away in his room whenever he was home. Even as a beta, I was still hovering on the edge of restraint. I wanted to touch her, smell her, taste her any chance I had. But the rational part of me knew we needed to wait until she invited us to her nest or made it clear she needed release. Which, to be fair, she seemed to need quite often. The guys told me that omegas will get increasingly aroused until their heat hits, and then it was going to be a full on orgy of hormones for nearly a week. I was ready, though. I wanted to make sure we gave her the best heat she’d ever had.

I may or may not have spent most of the morning hanging out in between the gym and the living room in order to be present in case she passed by. Which she finally did, close to lunchtime. I still couldn’t get the memories of us together in the nest out of my mind. If that was even a slice of what her heat would be like, I was already done for. Bella wandered down the stairs and smiled, waving as she saw me on the couch. “Hey Maddox! What are you up to?” I stood and stretched, hoping my pump from the workout earlier kept my chest and arms looking nice for her.

“I was just going to go to my art room. Want to join?” I used to paint back before we took on so many assignments. It was a talent I’d nurtured, one I barely had time or resources for before Kian had met me and bitten me. He had encouraged me to express myself through art, but after he left his family and we’d moved I had let it fall to the wayside. Now, with Bella here, I was feeling creative again. And I really needed to express myself.

“An art room?” I could see the curiosity on her face. “Yes, we have plenty of supplies. Let me show you.” I offered my hand to her and she took it, giddy as I led her down the hall. She must really like art. I opened the door to my barely used art studio, the paint and canvases strewn about across the tables. “Wow! There’s so much!” She walked in, her eyes wide as she surveyed the supplies. I’d purchased so much when we bought the house, but it seemed a waste when I thought back on the scant times I’d actually been in here.

“There’s more than I’ll ever use. Feel free to make whatever you feel like.” I went to go grab a canvas, wiping the dust off of it before setting it up. I found the colors I wanted and grabbed a few brushes, settling in as I began painting again. I hadn’t used my creative muscle in a long time, but it came back to me, like an old skill you never forget. My feelings right now started filling the canvas with bright reds, yellows and pinks as I felt the pent up pressure in me flowing through in my art. Bella had moved about the studio, gathering paper and pieces of foil as she went.

“It's too bad I can’t go outside right now. I wish I could at least walk around the neighborhood.” She mentioned as she sat down at a table and started working on her project.

“I’m sure there’s a way to remedy that.” I said as I looked at my work. The brushstrokes were forming an abstract mesh of colors, a brighter and happier piece than I usually made.

“Not really. I’m perfuming like crazy. It’s super dangerous for me to go outside right now. Any other alphas might go feral.” I chuckled at the thought. Not because it was funny - I just knew that my pack would tear apart anyone who thought of laying a finger on her.

“Well, let me see what we can work out. I don’t want you to feel too cooped up in here.” She looked up from her project.

“I don’t! It’s been a great time, actually. I just don’t know much about other places, so everything is new to me.” I smiled as I flicked paint at my canvas. We would show her so much more than she’d been able to experience. We’d give her the world. She shuffled and stood up from the table, pushing her chair back as she came over to me. “Here. This is for you.” I looked over to see her holding out a bouquet of origami flowers. My heart almost burst.

“Bella! These are beautiful, but you are the one who should be receiving gifts, not me!” She looked bashful.

“Well, it’s a thank you for getting all the nesting supplies. I never had the opportunity to work on a nest in advance like that.” I reached out for her paper bouquet. This was a gift I was going to cherish forever. I made a mental note to get her some real flowers, something extravagant that she could enjoy. I had a feeling she’d been giving more than receiving for far too long.

“You don’t have to thank me for that. It should be a given that you get to make your nest how you want.” I looked at the variety of paper flowers that she made. She was so talented, and she probably didn’t even realize it.

“What’s that?” She pointed at my canvas, a bright mixture of colors and a few dashes of darkness, a representation of what I had been feeling through our bonds.

“My feelings at the moment. I used to paint more. I’m not sure why I stopped.” She crawled onto my lap, a welcome surprise. Her arms wrapped around my neck as she looked at my art. “I don’t know why you stopped, either. It’s beautiful.” I let her rest her head on my chest as we sat there, soaking up the calm before her heat. I had a feeling I’d be spending quite a bit more time in the studio now that she was here.

Chapter 42

Kian

I needed a breather. I had been in and out of meetings all day, and I had spent this entire evening exclusively brainstorming new strategies. My mind was fatigued, but I had to figure out how we would position our real estate company now that two of the local rival packs were doing a merger. They were some of our direct competitors, although my pack held more influence and had better contracts. I ran the numbers through my head again, looking at various ways to stay one step ahead of them. The problem was that those packs played dirty. They worked like small local mafias, mandating bribes from the people who lived in their areas of the city in order to stay clear of any problems. It was nothing new to me - I’d grown up around that environment, and Roebri was much less corrupt than where I’d lived before. I knew a few weaknesses in their packs that would stunt them, but I was growing weary of resorting to violence to constantly keep my legitimate business afloat. The local city council was working on keeping Roebri clean of corruption, which was one reason our pack wanted to start fresh here. But no place was completely clean. That was just part of life.

I sighed and stood up, feeling the stretch in my body as I reached my arms overhead. I should go to the gym and work out some of this tension. But that could wait until tomorrow. What I really needed now was to head to the study and pour myself a nice bourbon on the rocks before going over my strategy again. I made my way down the hallway and up the stairs, pausing once I reached the doors. I smelled her before I even stepped in. Pushing the dark wood open, I looked around and saw the little omega curled up on a large cushioned chair, a book in her lap as the logs cracked behind her in the fireplace. She looked up at me, startled at my entrance. Her face showed brief excitement and curiosity.

“What are you doing in here?” I demanded, and she shrunk down in the chair. Damn. I hadn't meant to sound so harsh. She started to move to get up, one leg reaching down quietly to leave the chair. “Hold on, stop. I didn’t mean you had to leave.” She looked up at me, her excitement replaced by trepidation.

“I just thought it would be okay to read a book in here, out of the way.” Her voice trembled, and I felt like even more of an asshole.

“You don’t need to leave. Stay put and read. I just don’t want you snooping around. Do you understand?” She nodded, sitting back and picking the book back up. I walked to the bar cart, grabbing a glass and pouring myself a drink before heading to my large wooden desk, which I used more for reading than working. I settled into the leather chair, relaxing with a sigh as I reached to loosen my tie. Today was exhausting, and if I didn’t have enough to deal with, I now had to think about the omega in the room as well. Her scent was distracting, but it was helping me to take my mind off my earlier problems. I could see why my pack was so enamored with her. She was the opposite of us in so many ways - bright, innocent and optimistic. Yet she had overcome so much disappointment, forging on ahead and refusing to give up on her dream of a pack despite being dealt blow after blow. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t able to take my eyes off her small form, the chair backlit by the glow from the fireplace. The bourbon swirled in my mouth, calming my nerves as I watched the omega, fascinated by how she had managed to get under the skin of my pack so easily. She was pretending to read, but I could see her watching me from the corner of her eye as I sipped my drink. Her scent grew stronger, and I knew staying in here with her for much longer wasn’t wise. She placed the book down and looked at me.

“What’s wrong?” Her voice was clear and sweet. I set my drink down and folded my hands together.

“How do you know something’s wrong?” I cocked my head at her, staring while she held my gaze.

“Well, I haven’t seen you around much, but when you are here you seem to be working constantly, or having a drink.” Her words came out softly, like she didn’t want to offend me by the truth of them. I couldn’t help but feel the side of my mouth curl up. She was right - I’d been avoiding coming home and using work as an excuse to disengage with the pack, and it was obvious even to her.

“I do have a business to run, you know.” She looked over at me again with those big eyes, like she wanted to say more, but wasn’t sure if she was allowed to. I leaned back in my chair and strummed my fingers against the glass. “Do you drink?” I asked, figuring she didn’t. She was too innocent.
