Kian

I came out of the rut haze momentarily after waking up in the nesting room. Looking around, I couldn’t believe I had ever been so reluctant to take on an omega. For all the unease I’d had about having Bella here and involved with my pack, it seemed ridiculous to have ever questioned that we’d end up like this. In pure bliss. My pack members were taking a rare moment to nap, with Bella currently being cuddled by Cy and Jameson. Maddox was passed out, a water bottle still in his hand. This heat was a satisfying and exhausting adventure of pleasure. But more than that, I finally realized what I almost missed out on. Having an omega was taming the negative aspects of our nature. We had been cold, calculating and distant, trying to survive in a world where none of us had it easy growing up. Unfortunately, despite our level-headed rules, I now saw that we were heading toward being an unsatisfied, if not feral pack. Jameson had been closed off for years, even before our pack formed. I never knew he had the emotions he was displaying to Bella and through our bond. Cy was warming up and excited about his interests again, and Maddox could finally let his beta side care for someone. And as for me - well, despite my concerns, she had taught me not to fear falling for someone again. I was so worried about losing a pack member that I had closed off the possibility for us to find a missing piece.

Bella was bringing out our best sides and forming bonds in our pack even without being bitten into it. And I could see a change in her as well. She needed a strong pack to help her realize her value. To remind her each and every day that she was worth everything. To shower her with gifts, affection, and time. To give her everything that she never thought she would have. I wasn’t going to let her go. After this heat, it was pretty apparent that everyone, including Bella, wanted her bitten in. I wasn’t going to lose her.

I knew it was only a matter of time before she and the others woke up for another round of knotting, so I savored the moment, capturing the picture of all of them curled up in my mind’s eyes while I moved to embrace Maddox. “We’ll keep her alright.” I looked over to where Bella was laying, her small snores adorable. We were going to keep her and take care of her forever. I was finally looking forward to something again. I smiled and squeezed my pack mate, resting my eyes and finally at peace.

Chapter 49

Cy

It was late morning when the heat finally subsided. I woke up with a clear head, feeling more content than I could ever remember feeling before. I gazed around the room, looking at my pack. They were curled around each other with Bella nestled in the middle, their quiet sleep a spell I didn’t want to break just yet. I took a moment to appreciate all of them laying there peacefully before shifting to get up.

As quiet as I tried to be, it still broke the spell. Bella’s eyes fluttered, her omega senses probably alerting her that one of her alphas was leaving the room. She propped herself up and rubbed her eyes. “What time is it?” I glanced around, seeing the morning light peeking through a slit in the blackout curtains. “Probably late morning. Are you hungry?” The rest of the pack was stirring and Jameson curled his arm tighter around Bella to pull her toward him.
